"IMPORTANT NOTE: This campground is NOT open to the public! It is a corporate-owned employee/retiree retreat ONLY! I would normally have given 5 stars, but with the removal of the bulk of the forest and thereby nearly ALL privacy, and the lack of cleanup from said deforestation, I had to take off 2 stars. The idea of restoring this small piece of land to oak savanna might be noble to some, but Mother Nature had different ideas. The varied trees were NOT planted by humans, but occurred through natural seeding by animals and the environment. The funny but sad thing is while the oak trees were spared, so too, was the invasive Buckthorn, which will now thrive and kill off the oaks. 8/16/23 Well, privacy is no longer an issue, but that's because the result of clear-cutting so many trees is that the underbrush has grown out of control, leaving the park rather unsightly and an excellent breeding ground for rodents and insects. Rest assured, no invasive buckthorn was harmed in the process, but many birds were from eating buckthorn berries. Also, new management seems incapable of maintaining the pool, so we were unable to swim during a heat wave. The pool is covered in green algae. Finally, they also seem bent on bankrupting the campground, as they didn't bill us (or others we know) for our trip."
"Used to be amazing, going thru some changes n up jeeps not a great but still an amazing place on the mississippi"
"Changed my rating to 2 stars, one star for the clean bathrooms and one star for the clean pool. The new management isn't very responsive, lucky if they respond at all. I'm waiting to hear back about reservations that were made weeks ago. Website states a response time of 72hrs. I'm also waiting to be billed for the last time we stayed here. How will this campground stay open if Management doesn't collect money due for use of site?"
"If I could give this campground 10 stars, I would :) We enjoyed the campground so much. It is set among the most beautiful scenery and our girls loved every second of the parks, the trails, and of course the pool. If that wasn't enough, I can't say enough about the amazing management there, Erica is beyond wonderful to work with. We will absolutely be back in the future!"
"Great place. If you are able to camp with someone who is an employee at Excel take advantage of it. Sites are large and run very well."
