"I took my oldest son there for evaluation, detox. He was very paranoid, hallucinating, hearing voices. He hadn't slept or ate in days. They let him go and later that night he attempted to kill a family member and was shot to death by police. The website says they're available 24 hours through phone and text, NOT TRUE AT ALL!!"
"I recently had a family member in this hospital and found the staff to be very helpful. Particularly, Kelle A who was knowledgeable and kind as she answered many questions and calmed my anxiety. She earned every star with her professionalism and thoughtfulness."
"Girlfriend had to stay there for a week about a month ago. They lost all her valuable items a 500 dollar ring and expensive headphones. They refused to help multiple times and will hang up on me. I'm convinced that even if they didn't steal it there still awful people and a horrible company that steals from the people it's supposed to help"
"Shattering the stigma! Though reluctant to post with my actual name I truly believe that there is no shame in caring for mental health. Reno Behavioral Health Hospital gave me the compassionate and professional care I needed to address complicated grief and trauma from abuse. Every single staff member provided encouragement and compassion beyond measure and the skills they equipped me with were truly life changing."
"My son was hospitalized at RBH in the beginning month of August after reporting a parents nightmare, “ Mom, I’m hearing bad voices”. Having some medical knowledge and background from all across the country and a Masters in Nursing. I knew my son needed crisis intervention. I immediately took him to Renown Medical center where I thought I was getting him help turned in to a nightmare. I lost my rights as a parent as I was told if I choose to take my son home, child services would be file against me. I assured my son that is this to protect him should some parents might be the cause and/or stressor. I told him to trust the system. He was then sent after a 26 hr wait in the ED, just to realize I sent my child to a detention center. He was told he could not make any calls home, he was not given a blanket or pillow to sleep with because he was “at risk”, he was told he could mot change into the clothes I brought to him on admission. I received no phone calls to give me updates or a planned discharge meeting for home care. I received a total of 2 calls. Second night a nurse named “Jim” called to get a verbal consent to start him on respiradone but never mentioned he was also going to be on trazodone (found this out on discharge) and a couple days later a nurse to get some background information. I know nowhere where a nurse can practice as the MD, my understanding is this is illegal! I was able to only see him for one hour on Sunday evening were I needed to check in 30 mins prior to the visitation and it felt like I was visiting someone in prison. I was notified of his discharge the day of discharge. When I arrived for his discharge, I was then greeted by “Jim”, who gave me 11 pages of nothing. No follow up visit, no case manager, and no PRESCRIPTIONS!! I told Jim that I could not rightfully sign and accept this discharge and asked him how I was going to care for him if I had no medications for him to go home with when I knew they were medicating him at the facility for 4 nights. He told me he wasn’t given any medications while he was there. I responded by saying, “Jim, do you remember speaking with me to get my consent to start giving him respiradone?” In disbelief and confusion he told me he will go back and check if he missed anything. He calls me at the reception desk to tell me he “FOUND THE PRESCRIPTIONS”. I also demanded to speak with a case worker, and was told to use the phone and call and see if someone will pick up. No on picked up so I left a message. I never received a phone call back regarding his follow up care but instead 2 days after discharge, RBH finance dept calls to ask me for co-payment. I told them my situation, I was told unfortunately you are still liable for payment but we can send complaint to manager to follow up….Never received a call. I attempted to call leaving messages with no call back for 3 weeks. In a panic as my son was running out of the medication we forcefully received, I made my own appt with a psychiatrist Duncan Family Health. This is not modern day psychiatric care, we are in year 2023 not 1950! They do not help your child, they will only make them sicker or get the sickness scared out of them! This place needs to go out of business. Better not to have a facility than have a sicker traumatized child."
