"The staff at Durango truly do not care about the students. They will dress code you for something extremely petty and in that they attempt to embarrass you by forcing you to wear BRIGHT green sweats. The Deans seem highly prejudice and teachers tell students " Whether you are here or rpc'd" I'm getting paid."
"This school was the worst I've ever attend. Some of the teachers and staff were rude and disrespectful to me and my father. The school is too strict on cell phones and other electronics. I've also witness a Dean snatch up someones skate board on purpose. The teen wasn't even riding it on campus and his parents had to go and get it. The worst thing of all was a Teacher I've had. She was a terrible teacher and a very typical woman. Everyday she would talk about who's failing and who needs to get their grades up but she would not even help them get their grades up because all she would do is complain. Then when in comes to teaching, she would just be giving student's worksheets and then sit her behind back on the computer doing who knows what. I hope she gets fired soon."
"Staff was not helpful and rude to my kid. I also witnessed a staff yelling at a student when I went to pick my daughter. I was wondering how could they set up an example to all the students if staffs were not friendly and professional. A new student dean, Justine Crawford (may be just graduated from college?) treated students as prisoners. Durango High School is a terrible school."
"Staff seems only interested in students that they or parents are buddy buddy with, staff seem life it's a big in convince if heaven forbid a child doesn't understand a lesson because teachers don't don't how to teach.ake students want to give up drop out even I GUESSING THAT'S THE SCHOOLS GOAL ha they think it makes there school look better on paper. Remember that school is only as good as the students they throw to the crub. ADMINISTRATION it starts with you. You are what you produce even if discourage kids to drop out. Find a way to teach each other, then find why you can't some alternative ways to reach and teach a child. If you can't learn how in God's name can our kids became educated, have self-esteem, persever, if CCSD and teacher can't reach them. Fire those teachers who just pass kids because they didn't want them again, or it might look bad in their record. Teachers are only as good as the child who needs to learn another way. Is it that possible teacher are the ones who don't get it, not the kids after all they are the adults. By the way the office have a 7 page form that is free parents to fill out if they have concerns, or upset with whatever. It has to be turned into. To 6 different administrators and u get copy. They hide them just don't want us to know of this."
"This school is just great ! There are teachers here who give up their time for the kids and are willing to bend the rules just to see a kid smile. I knew of a kid who had no family on thanksgiving day. A teacher I know invited this kid to have dinner with other staff and friends at his house just so this student can enjoy a classic american tradition. This school may not have the wealthiest of students ( I.e. us being ranked a title 1 school) or even teachers, but we definitely have a principal who cares. Ms.keller has revived all performing arts programs and have the best possible teachers instructing. The band ( of which im in ) is under instruction of two teachers who both graduated from Syracuse. They were offered jobs by other high ranking schools but continue to stay here and see the kids prosper."
