"Hardly any bullying amazing teachers. Awesome assistant principal. Terrific choir and ROTC programs. PE is the best. My dad is in the military so I have been to eight different schools in my life and this is the best school I have been to, I have been here for two years and the honors program is unbelievable! So is the Autism program! I should know I am in both!"
"I don't want to give this sch a star at all but I had to because I needed to make sure I put a review on here for this SCH! Rude front desk ppl especially the Restisterer ladies. My daughter was transferred from Utah & been trying to get registered & they gave us the run around for the past few weeks! Who does this?? A new student coming into the sch should be welcomed because they already have a hard time from moving! How are these people working & dealing with the public with their stink attitudes? Especially ppl are making time to go there! Rude rude rude! My daughter will not attend this SCH! Ughhh"
"As a concerned parent, four years ago I was very adamant about sending my children to a public high school, particularly because they had always been in private school. I was told by many people that Palo Verde High School was one of the best in Las Vegas. My daughter insisted on going to Palo and assured me that no matter what school she attended, public or private, it was about her making the right decisions about how far she wanted to take her studies and what kind of crowd she wanted as friends. Four years later she is graduating with Advanced Honors Diploma and High Honors. She has been assertive enough to not drink or smoke or do illegal substances when and if offered. Palo Verde High School is not the problem! It's the parents that want to leave the burden of bringing up their kids to the school that is the real problem. It's just that it's easier to complain than to assume responsibility. Some of the kids that went to the private elementary/middle school as my daughter and went to one of the "best" private catholic high school in Vegas have done drugs, alcohol, had sex and who knows what else from day one at the so called "best" high school. Most of those kids had already displayed signs of what their high school behavior might be, mainly due to how lax their parents were. She also has friends that are great, smart kids and have done very well there. Their parents showed genuine interest in their kids' wellbeing. As parents we need to take the initiative, at home, to secure the well being of our children. We have to be constant and reassuring of what is acceptable and what isn't so they can speak up from day one. And we as parents have to be assertive and consistent with following through when we have a legitimate concern. I met all my daughter's teachers every year and made sure to meet them one on one and asked them to please keep her on her toes or to let me know if acted up. They were all very receptive and showed genuine interest and knew I wanted to know if something was not right. Don't blame Palo Verde High School for allowing your girls to dress inappropriately or being exhibitionists. Where are the parents that are allowing them to walk out of their homes like that? And why are they even allowing them to purchase those clothes??? To that parent complaining about the heading in the Yearbook page of the girls softball, "A girl's place is at home" it refers to home as in "home run"! Btw, the "comma" that parent is referring has another name, "apostrophe". I still have my son who will be attending Palo Verde as Junior in September. I will continue to be vigilante to know who his friends are, if anyone harrasses him, if his friends are drinking, or smoking. I will continue reminding him that he has a sister and a mother, and that he would never allow them to be disrespected or mistreated. Therefore, he always needs to respect girls. Let's start complaining less and doing more!"
"this will be the first installment of many complaints. I will refrain from doing complaints about the school district itself and more on the school and its issues. this year, 2016, the school released a yearbook and on the page talking about girls softball the headline read, "a girls place is at home" in an effort to be punny. first of all, that is a stupid heading, second of all, it is misogynistic, and third of all, there should be a comma in Girl’s. the fact that things like this are allowed to be distributed (the fact that to get something approved in this school you have to go through two admins and the supervisor) is crazy and is a clear example that this school is trash. more to come."
"As a Senior, I feel like I should write this. The staff honestly doesn't care about you at all. If you don't play sports, you don't matter. The teachers favorite students all the time! The counselors seem nice but are actually really snobby and rude. They don't care if you are doing good or bad, and they certainly don't try and help you if you need it. If you were looking for a school to go to in the CCSD, don't go to Palo Verde."
