Decker Elementary School

"We were going to place our child in that school but we were in disbelief at what we were told from another parent. They were beyond upset with the school's administration. Their child had an incident with a teacher and instead of the principal doing something about it; nothing was done. Why? To keep the name in good standing. We are beyond upset that the principal does not know how to deal with students, TEACHERS, and the entire school system."

"I just went to the meet and greet today. Where I found out that the principal expects us to drop our kindergarteners off at the doors of the cafeteria and they'll take it from there, actually she encouraged parents to just put them on the bus. We're talking about a child's very first day at school,5 year old children. Also we only met their actual classroom teachers today. Then told that those teachers aren't even who will greet them on their first day! They are to sit in the cafeteria for 15 minutes, then go to a different class with a different teacher who they haven't even met, THEN after that class they will go to their actual class. If that was the case why did we not meet those teachers as well today!?!?!?! The whole thing seems unorganized, ridiculous and honestly not with the children's best interests in mind! My child hasn't even started and I'm already wary of this principle and how the year will go. And shame on her for not wanting parents to be there and take part of such an important milestone in their child's life!!!!!!"

"THE PRINCIPAL NEEDS TO GO! She is extremely rude and got rid of all the teachers that had been there for many years. She's trying to get rid of teachers that are going for their PHD just because she doesn't have one. How could a principal do that to her own teachers? She didnt want kindergarten kids to play in their own playground separate from the older kids. She painted over paintings that had been there for many years, the children don't do the Pledge of Allegiance or the Decker cheer that has been in the school for many, many years. This school is an amazing school, however, the principal is running it to the grounds. I wished they would bring Ms.Johnson back. She was an amazing principal who cared about her students and teachers."

"Very Good School! My family and I just moved here from out of state and I was worried about finding a great school for my son cause I'm very picky and want him to be in a great learning environment. Needless to say my son loves the school from the first day he started. Teachers are great students are friendly. Definitely made it easier for me worrying about him."

"This is one of the best schools in our county. Very much recommend it. Staff is wonderful and every time I call and have questions they already know me without saying my name. My child is known by the entire staff and they are very loving towards him. He is a special needs child and gets the education he needs and deserves. From being a year behind he caught up to where he needed to be in less than a year. They focus on the kids and the priorities of making sure they don't get left behind. Every time there was an incident I got a call. They have great programs for the kids as well. The principal goes beyond to know all her kids by name and the parents as well. Sadly this will be our last year and off to middle school we go. I wish I could take every staff member with us along with the teachers."
