Katz Elementary 1800 Rock Springs Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89128

"This entire school district is garbage!!! You don't care about the children at all! My daughter has been going to Katz elementary the last 2 years and has been an honor roll student each year and brings home multiple awards. She has had very bad allergies and asthma and is going through treatments. Has had to miss a lot of school. I put in a request for a transfer of schools because we are now in an even numbered apartment (same address as before) and are now zoned for the school next door to katz (literally next door). The garbage Principal of Katz ES, denied my child because of her doctor excused absences. In the midst of her absences the useless office person at Katz mentioned filing a 504 (apparently it is for if you have disabilities) we asked for the information on it. She said she had no information about it whatsoever. Today I called CCSD and was basically told too bad on the transfer denial and that if I want to file for the 504 I would talk to the school nurse at my daughter's new school. Homeschooling here we come because I am absolutely done. I have had enough of the constant lack of stupidity and uncaring. This is definitely not the first instance of this kind of thing I have experienced and seen involving other children also. And they get upset with parents when they talk about school choice. You people are absolute garbage! The children of Las Vegas are getting the worst education possible. I can go on and on about the ridiculous things I have seen. The school gets free lunch and breakfast. Do you all know they don't have enough time to eat their lunch? I'm not joking. My daughter's teacher sent out a message last year saying there are children with no coats in winter. I went out and bought a coat for the classroom. A month later I was on the Katz ES property last year and there were name brand coats in 2 garbage cans out back!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so disgusted I can't even deal with this. If I could give you ZERO STARS I WOULD!! You should all be ashamed of yourselves!"

"I'm very disappointed in the manner the assistant principal spoke to me on the phone. Her name is Ms Jefferson. She was rude, condescending, and spoke to me like I was one of the students there. When I showed up to pick up my grandson I told her she was rude and that I was going to complain about her to the school district. The next day my grandson was sent home with a letter from the Principal, Ms Reed, to me, to say because I "threatened" Ms Jefferson, I could no longer come onto the school grounds. This was clear retaliation from me saying I would complain about how rude Ms Jefferson was to me! The whole ordeal was handled so inappropriately. My next stop will most definitely be the school district in charge of this school. Rude and inappropriate behavior towards guardians should not be swept under the rug."

"I was the class of 1999/2000 and I have so much nostalgia when looking back on Mrs Hauser's kindergarten class. I was reading at an advanced level by the time I graduated. What a great time to be a kid.... Times may have changed, but my memories will last forever. Thank you, Katz Elementary."

"This school is terrible to say the least. First, they are teaching my son who is in kindergarten to spell his name wrong (even though i have brought it to their attention). Then, I get phone calls saying he has unjustified absences even though I dropped him off and picked him up from school that day and he has his activities for the day inside his backpack. Mind you that the temp teacher is always late and to top that off she keeps packing Adrian's daily work into Aidan's (NOT AIDEN for the hundreth time!!!) backpack. Im gonna move just to find a better rated school. This is not sad, it's absolutely depressing!!!!"
