"My kids have gone to Thompson for the past 5 years. I love the teachers and all the staff. Ms. Suzi, Ms. Shelly and Ms. Danielle in the office are amazing. The PTA is extremely active run by some amazing moms and dads. I am proud to be a part of a wonderful school and to send my children who are both Honor Roll and G.A.T.E. The test scores are some of the highest in the city here. My son is moving on to middle school but my daughter will continue on. One grateful parent here!"
"I have been a volunteer for the last two years and can't say enough about what a great team Thompson has. Suzi and Shelley always great me with a warm welcome and a thank you when I leave. The teachers are always so positive and enthusiastic. Mr. Halland runs a tight ship, which is in the best interest of the children's safety . Unfortunately the office staff seems to get a lot of grief from some parents for enforcing these rules. Keep up the great work, YOU ALL are AWESOME!!!"
"I have loved my experience at Thompson Elementary School! I have two children who attend this school and from day one have only had positive experiences at this school. I wanted to personally thank Ms. Albert 1st grade teacher and Ms. Cripe 2nd grade teacher for being so supportive and hard working. These two teachers are very invested in their students progression and will do whatever it takes to empower and build their students knowledge and confidence. Thank you for everything that you do! "My daughter currently attends Thompson and I take offense to the reviews written here. I am pleased with the staff and the school but then we do take a different approach than most parents. We view the school as PARTNERS IN OUR CHILD'S EDUCATION NOT THE SOLE PROVIDER. Its easy to blame the school, the staff and the principal for not doing enough, but ask yourself how you have contributed to your child's education. Have you attended the parent/teacher conferences? Do you know what your child is working on? Do you ever talk to your child about the work they did for the day? Heck, most of you can't even write reviews that are grammatically and syntactically correct, yet you expect perfection from the school staff? I also see plenty of personal comments that have nothing to do with the education or the experience you or your child has had. Is this what you teach your children? In the absence of quality criticism you turn to personal attacks? Sure there are a few exceptions, but the staff has always been courteous and professional, I would guess this is a classic case of 'treat people the way you wish to be treated'. Its time to stop blaming everyone else for the lack of our effort or success in life. Take some personal responsibility. The largest problem we have in Las Vegas is the uneducated or undereducated residents drawn to the community for high paying, low or no-education jobs. This breeds a contemptuous person and not one that contributes to our community. Its time to stop with the 'everyone gets a blue ribbon for participation' crap that has ruined our country. Start taking responsibility for your lives and putting in the effort to get results. As one poster said...check yourself before trying to blame others."
"This is a horrible school. They move children to the next grade even though they are failing just to get them out of the school. The principal is a racist and sexiest. He talks down to the mothers of the children and accuse them of being bad parents. He is super nice to the fathers because he fears them. The office staff does not know how to do their job and they do not have common sense. Las Vegas is known to have a very bad educational system and the majority of the parents choose to home school their children. Their is a reason for this but the staff does not seem to get it . My son hated the school. They treated him so mean from the time he was 6 years old. It's so sad because children should love school. My son is now in middle school and he does not have any behavior issues and he absolutely loves it. As for my daughter I have to pull her out in order for her to get a good education.. It's funny how they all walk around with be kind tees when they are mean to parents...Everyone that I talked to does not like the principal Mr. Holland and previous reviews describe him as "cockeyed looking all over the place while you're attempting to have an important conversation with him." I suggest Mr. Holland check himself before he tries to check parents."
