"I drove for RTI for 3.5 years and enjoyed what I did. Some of the constant Chicago loads got old after a while and were in not very safe neighborhoods, but that’s part of trucking. Overall, made good money (as a company driver) and stayed busy. Home every weekend unless you want to be out longer. I was never once denied time off. They will work with you and keep you doing whatever you want to do. I preferred the longer loads so, Mike (dispatcher) kept me running long haul. In 3.5 years I only did one 34 hour break on the road. Only problem I had was when I decided to buy my own truck and become an Owner Op, there just wasn’t enough money to be worth the hassle. I would have stayed if they would have given me the raise I wanted. That didn’t happen so I had to leave. One of the dispatchers I worked with at the time is now gone and the two office gals retired as well, so I have no insight on the new office staff."
