"**Edited to add- I called the winery as suggested below (although they had my phone number from my conversation yesterday- I gave it to Peggy). They are not willing to do anything to make this right on my end. The woman I talked to was the owner but didn’t know anything about my call yesterday or the Google response below. I was told “oh, that was by someone in a different office.” The winery wants me to drive 4 hours to bring the bad wine to them. When I suggested they send me a refund, she laughed and said, “why would I do that?” I will never go back there or buy their wine. I never write reviews. However, my experience at Mt Bethel Winery warrants one. I have been there a few times, never an issue- delicious wine. However, I visited a month ago and bought 5 bottles, 2 of them were the red table wine (my favorite). The first bottle was bad- smelled and tasted strongly like nail polish remover. I threw it out. Sent them an email to let them know. I never heard anything. I opened the second bottle of red table wine days ago. The same problem- smelled and tasted like finger nail polish remover. I called the winery yesterday. They were zero help. I live 4 hours from Altus so I can’t just stop by. No offer to refund me the 2 bottles. When I suggested shipping 2 other bottles to me- that was flat out refused because it would be “too expensive.” I haven’t opened the other 3 bottles I bought there yet. Hoping they aren’t spoiled. Extremely disappointed in how I was dealt with as a customer on the phone."
"A MUST stop! Visit with Ms. Peggy a while and get the best tasting wines to take home with you, plus a t-shirt or two. The blackberry is my favorite. Grab a case or two so you have plenty for gift giving."
"Small yet mighty winery. Tasting was fun and informative. Impressive history of the winery - worth the trip. Very accommodating hostess. Gift shop items are great as well."
"Ms. Peggy is reason enough to stop for an hour or two. Fourth generation wine maker whokows all about the area, the grapes, the wine making, everything! The tasting room is in an old storm cellar which gives it super cool character. They have a wide variety of wines, even a port, and average price is around $10."
"My wife and I stopped here after going to church. It is a nice little winery, with free tastings. Kasey was very informative about the history of the winery. Her ancestors were the ones who started it 3 generations ago. The winery has a diverse selection of wines. All of the wines we sampled were delicious. The tasting room and store, were hand dug out of the hill. Give it a try, you will be glad you did."
