"Awesome experience is all I can say! The trip had been over a year in the making. Had it scheduled for early last year and I ended up in the hospital. Rescheduled for Sept of last year and still wasn't able to make it due to still not fully healed up. Finally able to reschedule for today. Met him at the lake at 6am and by 6:30 we were putting fish in the boat. When the fish would stop biting we'd move to another spot and within minutes the bobbers we're going back down. His boat has a very smooth ride. I'd gladly give him 10 out of 5 stars. Great guide and great guy! Thanks for a great memory Capt Darryl! We will be back for more."

"Went out with Darryl today. One of the best guide experiences I've ever had. The only reason it's not the top is because when I was with the guide in Florida, I caught a small shark, pretty sure that isn't a option on Degray Lake. He was very knowledgeable about the lake. "Communication was a real big issue. I sent my deposit in and never heard anything back. After multiple emails were sent he eventually responded to a text message and gave me a call. He apparently did not see the deposit but put us on the calendar after a phone call. I was told to text him the day before our trip and he would advise where and when we would meet the following day. I texted at 4:15 pm, 7:45, and 10:30 (also called at 10:30) the day before our trip to see what the plan was but got no response. There were scattered thunderstorms all week so I knew there was a possibility that our trip would be called off. I set my alarm for 4:30 the morning of to try and make contact. I saw I had a text from Daryl at 3:10 am saying he heard thunder and we could reschedule or he would refund our money. At 4:30 I checked the radar and there was less than a 20% chance of rain till the early afternoon. I asked if he thought it was worth it to wait a little bit and got no response. He did respond once I asked for a refund with a thumbs up emoji. Not sure what was going on but it seemed to me he just didnt want to go out that day. I wanted to be safe as well but calling the trip at 3 am seemed a bit odd. It did not rain a drop from the time I was up at 4:30 and I heard no severe weather. From his website it looks like he can put you on fish you just have to be very proactive with communication. Below is a pic I took of the weather late morning. Edit: I understand and am sympathetic to your health issues. It still does not really explain your inability to communicate at all the day before our trip. You were able to communicate at 3:10 the morning of. If you were not feeling well the you should have said that. I could understand canceling because of health issues but calling off a trip with less than a 20% chance of rain due to weather is strange. I wish you the best and hope that you are feeling better."
