"Southern Floor Co. provided excellent support and service during our recent home flooring update. The positive experience began when Stephanie assisted in selecting LVP samples and allowing us to take these home. She guided us to a product that had everything we were looking for. The itemized estimate for the flooring and installation was reviewed and Southern Floor Co. did everything as agreed. Our installation crew were professional and polite. All in all, we had a great experience working with Stephanie and all the folks at Southern Floors Co. and highly recommend this local business!"
"It's very rare that I leave a negative review for a small business. I owned a service business before I sold it so leaving a negative review is not something I use as a power play, but the experience with Southern Floor has been anything but 5-Star. I will give them credit where it's due though - the installers were great and did a wonderful job. My complaint is not with the quality of work but with the customer service; or lack thereof. We started with Steve as our salesman then quickly got bounced over to Tom. We agreed upon a price and paid the half-down deposit that they require in order to get scheduled. We got a good deal on the product since they had the warehouse sale. We had a few changes to the original proposal but on the original proposal and the one following it there was a mention of a cash/check discount. Since there was no mention of it in the proposal Tom sent I called and spoke to Wendy to see if that was still applicable even thought we had already paid the deposit. She said she didn't have our file in front of her but they did offer a cash/check discount which is usually in the amount of the sales tax. She said she would look at our file and note on it to apply the discount since we were paying via check. I have a call recording of this conversation as I am sure they do as well. Fast forward to completion of the job and it was immediately about collecting the money which I understand, but there was no inquiry of our satisfaction of the job completion. I was told by Steve they would undercut the door where the carpet was installed so it didn't drag on the carpet. That wasn't done by the installer and when I mentioned it to Wendy; because Steve is now un-responsive, there was no reply or acknowledgement of that issue so I guess I either have to do it or pay somebody to. I mentioned the discount for paying by cash/check to Wendy and she said Tom had already applied that to the flooring which seemed weird since Wendy said she was the one that handles the cash/check discount. Then the excuse she gave to not give the discount was that the job was less than the original proposal. I asked her why would she say she would not the file to include the discount without looking at the amount first? I told her she shouldn't have said that and there would have not been an issue. She then told me "Pay me. or get out!" I am not sure that is inclusive of "Award-winning customer service" but then again there isn't many flooring companies around here to choose from so that was probably an easy shoe-in award. They are focused on collecting payment and disregarding any claim or promise they made to get the sale. Steve was available enough to text me for payment collection but unreachable when there were questions - that speaks volumes of how his company is ran."
"Received the worst imaginable customer service from a company who claims to have "award-winning customer service." We are new to the village and wanted to use a local company for our remodel. We went the the showroom and picked out some samples and scheduled the owner, Steve, to come measure. He was extremely pleasant and even got personal with us on a family matter. We felt like it was a perfect fit for our needs. That's where the positive feedback ends. Trying to schedule a time to come in and pick out flooring after that seemed to be impossible so we tried our luck and just showed up one afternoon. It was then that Stephanie informed us of a 50% off warehouse sale they were going to be having that weekend so we decided to wait and come back. We picked out our vinyl and carpet and went to make deposit and schedule install. Tom was the most confusing salesperson to work with. We had to go over the numbers with him several times because nothing was "adding" up. He didn't even understand himself. Nonetheless, we settled on a date and made deposit. Mind you, we have proof in the form of signed proposals and voice recordings from whoever Wendy is stating they offer cash discounts which is how we were paying. Great! Well then it comes out that they don't know when or if the carpet will arrive on time for move-in but nobody bothered to update us so we continued to reach out and finally after finding someone else who could accommodate us they were able to confirm that it would arrive on time. The vinyl gets installed, no problem. Carpet gets installed day before we move in, seemingly no issues. Never received a call asking how things went/looked, etc. (we weren't living there yet), but did receive call requesting final payment. My fiancé advised we would gladly pay once total is adjusted to reflect cash discount as promised. That's when things got ugly. Wendy is the nastiest person imaginable to have to deal with. She has absolutely no regard for customer service. And Steve, well he just quit answering his phone after he was able to send text asking us to pay up. Never once did he bother to return a call to us. This is the owner mind you. We paid, with a charge card. Why bother with cash if you don't honor your cash discount? Needless to say, will never be doing business with them again and will never recommend either. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Even Lowe's is better! I'm so completely dissatisfied. The way we were treated is so disheartening. I'm quite upset as you can tell. It's the principal of the matter. We could care less about $200, just don't disrespect and ignore your paying customers!"
"My husband and I would definitely recommend this company! Amy made the process easy for us and enjoyable!! We had flooring-both hardwood and carpet and backsplash for our kitchen installed. Amy was able to help us choose the best options for us and she was so great to work with! The pricing was very competitive to other stores we had priced beforehand! The install for each thing we had completed went great and every person we worked with to get the projects completed were professional and showed up when they said they would. (HUGE plus!!) Amy stayed in communication with us throughout the entire process! We definitely will choose Southern Flooring for any other upcoming projects!"
