"My family and I were traveling through Harrison late and needed a place for the night. We were able to get a room for a walk in and it seemed quite clean initially. As we started to get ready for sleep we removed the cover to find a broken crack(?) pipe under the cover. The front desk staff seemed aware of who was last in the room and though apologetic of my experience, didn't seem that surprised honestly after they realized the previous tenant. If the cleaning staff could miss broken drug paraphernalia just below the pillow area on a made bed, it doesn't say a lot for the routine cleaning of their rooms. I'd stay away from this hotel."
"Hotel staff was friendly, rooms were clean. Beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was very good. I think the best I have had at a hotel."
"When people say it's not about the money, they usually mean it is. In this case it's about the money, but spending it on a hotel that is welcoming and makes you feel welcome. I'm 55. As a child and adult I have stayed in hundreds of hotels. Many times to visit friends and family. Many times they would come to the hotel to hang out at the pool and grill some food. Never, and I mean never, has that been a problem. On the contrary, many hotel managers would come and visit for awile and get to know everyone. You know, that's kind of good for business. It came as a surprise that the Holiday Inn in Harrison says your freinds and family can't use the pool. The whole story if you care to continue. My wife and I and our 3 year old grandson had a room with a king bed. My daughter, son-in-law and their 4 children live in Harrison so my daughter was going to bring the kids over to swim. I was with my 3 grandsons and was going to come later. My wife, daughter, and two granddaughters went to check in. The receptionist, in a not nice way said, you have one king bed, are you all staying in the room? My wife said no, and let her know my daughter lived in Harrison and we asked her to bring the grandkids over to swim. The receptionist said nothing about it wasn't allowed. The receptionist then, in a not nice way said, is that a cake. My wife said, yes, it's my husbands birthday. The receptionist, again in a not nice way said, you can't have that at the pool. My wife kind of laughed and said, we didn't plan on having a cake at the pool, is there anything wrong with the tables and chairs right there? Later, I arrived with my 3 grandsons, the receptionist walked toward the pool, I hadn't met here and didn't know about the above incounter at this time. My grandsons were several steps ahead and when they got to the pool door, the receptionist said, do you have a key, about that time I was there, and said, their with me. She said are you with them? Indicating my daughter and two granddaughters. I said yes. She said the pool was for guests only and not people who weren't staying. I said, since when, I've been an IHG member for years, done this many times, including at this hotel, and it's never been a problem. She said it's up to hotel managers and that's the rule their. She said she would have to call the manager. She did and said the manager would allow it "this time". I thought about it and decided we wouldn't stay. My wife said she was going to get a refund. I said, our daughter went in the room and we used the pool so you can't and it doesn't matter. I'm not worried about a refund. We will however let them know that we have stayed here many times before and we will not be staying again. My wife, still went and tried to get a refund, which we didn't and I have no problem with that. Agian my daughter went into the room and we used the pool. No refund is expected or necessary. However, for us ,and those of you who are reading this, travel and check into a hotel, we have the realistic expectation of a warm welcome. As customers, when that expectation isn't met, we have options. One of those options is to no longer do business where we aren't welcome, and spend our money at at place where we are. That's the option I have chosen."
"Shock that this I considered a 2star hotel. The room was so clean, beds super comfortable. May I add this room light up, there are lights on everything! Plus side.... NO BUGS. I appreciated the real shades in the room. Staff is extremely kind and helpful. Breakfast was simple but filling. Eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy And push button Pancakes."
