Horizon Dog Park

"This has been forgotten by the city of Scottsdale. It’s an embarrassment. It needs to be shut down for however long it takes to make it decent. At a minimum irrigation needs to be fixed and sod/seed laid down so it’s not a big dirt pile."

"I have no idea what’s going on with this park. I go in the early and late afternoons and everytime I go, it’s closed. The gate is locked with no indication why it’s not open. I’ve gone on weekends and weekdays and same thing. It’s locked. I’ve stopped driving there bc it’s just a disappointment."

"I get nervous going to this park. There is no small and big dog areas, all of the dogs are together. The times I have went I saw aggressive behavior with no owner intervention. Half the park is dirt so expect to wash you dog after. The size is quite small for how busy it gets. I go here as a last resort."

"This is the best dog park I have been to with any of my animals over the years. There is grass, red rock sand, picnic tables under shade awnings and trees, beautiful views of the mountains, housed within the wonderful and aesthetically pleasing Horizon Park. Plenty of parking, easy entry and exit onto the road, well lit in the early mornings and evenings, and if you are lucky you can catch a baseball or softball game in the adjoining field! The dog owners are great - as are the dogs, which is always the deciding factor for us. The owners are responsible with themselves and their dogs. The dogs that are brought to the park are of no trouble to the other visiting humans and canines - again, the most important point to a dog park. The entrance to the dog area is very safe, secure and handicap accessible, as is the park itself. The park is kept very clean by the park staff, as well as the owners (potty bags and garbage cans). There are large 5 gallon buckets throughout the park for water, which can easily be filled at any time by any visitor in the corner of the park. Having such responsible staff, pet owners, pets and visitors, as well as the grass, shade, water, cleanliness, parking and views makes this a fantastic find."
