"So far my fur baby is doing very well. She absolutely loves all the women there. They make such a fuss over her."
"Staff/doctors very nice to me and my fur baby.. Maybe spend a bit more time educating parents of choices of treatments and why. Unfortunately SRS treatments for my boy's bladder cancer did not work for him. SRS helped a bit for his prostrate cancer ( But not much ) Looking back maybe with this kind of cancer TCC (Chemotherapy) probably would of been a better option. I lost my boy a few weeks ago ( 4 months after treatment ) I think more research is needed for (SRS ) treatments for certain types of cancer."
"During one of the most challenging times of my life, Dr. Lynda Beaver and Arizona Veterinary Oncology became a beacon of hope and compassion. When I brought my beloved four-legged companion with a large tumor to their care, I was skeptical that anything could be done. However, Dr. Beaver and the team at Arizona Veterinary Oncology proved me wrong and exceeded all expectations. They developed a tailor-made chemotherapy treatment for my dog that worked wonders, miraculously shrinking the tumor to nearly nothing. This gift of five additional months with my furry friend is something I will forever hold close to my heart. The dedication and genuine care they showed towards my dog were truly heartwarming. Every visit was an experience of patience, understanding, and sincere concern for both my pet and me. What touched me deeply was the range of options they provided for my pet's care. They never rushed me, always taking the time to explain each option and its potential outcomes. Even more remarkable was their honesty and integrity. When the time came that the chemo was no longer effective, they didn't push for more expensive treatments, reaffirming my belief that they cared about my dog's well-being above all else. In a world where genuine empathy can sometimes be scarce, Dr. Beaver and Arizona Veterinary Oncology shines as a prime example of what it means to truly care for animals and their owners. My dog may have passed on, but the memories and the extended time they gave us will forever be cherished. My heartfelt gratitude goes out to the entire team for their exceptional care, kindness, and unwavering commitment to the well-being of my precious companion."
"This review is for the radioactive iodine treatment for cats at this Gilbert facility. If your cat has existing concurrent health issues going into treatment, especially kidney disease, please read #6. 1. My final bill was just over $2000. 2. It was a 3 month wait to get an appointment for the I131 treatment. If you are doing a methimazole trial on your cat, don't wait until the trial is complete to make an appointment. Call now just in case the wait is still this long. 3. This is the only facility in Arizona that includes the Technetium Scan as part of the I131 treatment procedure. NOTE: They will put your cat under short duration general anesthesia for the scan. I was not aware of this until I received the appointment confirmation reminder 1 week prior to my consultation appointment - it is not mentioned in any of the paperwork I completed in advance. Make sure this is appropriate for your cat prior to your consultation appointment. 4. Buy a Geiger counter. It's $60 on Amazon. This will help you take the post-I131 radiation precautions seriously. Watch my video recorded 2-3 days after my cat came home from the treatment. Sound on. 5. If you have very specific instructions on feeding, supplementing, or treats for your cat during their overnight stay, do not expect your instructions to be fully followed. No big deal but don't be surprised if the supplements and treats are returned to you untouched. 6. The MO of this practice is to treat for hyperthyroidism only. I'm sure this works great in general. In fact, I've heard several success stories that came out of this facility. However, if your cat has other concurrent chronic health issues going into treatment, especially kidney disease, they treat for the hyperthyroidism and then you're on your own. There is no aftercare provided by this facility for cats with more complicated cases. There is no post-I131 protocol for cats with existing CKD. You will be directed to your family vet for aftercare. There's information online about how other doctors at other treatment centers manage CKD cats post-treatment. Do your research, discuss with your family vet, and do your best to decide what is best for your cat. Do not rely on this facility for aftercare guidance. I decided to insist on blood work at 1 and 2 weeks following treatment to monitor for hypothyroidism for my CKD kitty. She became hypothyroid at week 2. Her creatinine increased from 2.9 mg/dL to 4.5 mg/dL in 7 days. It could be temporary but I didn't want to risk further damage to her kidneys. I called this clinic to ask for guidance for our situation since my family vet has no experience with this type of case. The feedback I received from Dr. Boshoven was to work with my vet to treat the kidneys, because they don't deal with kidneys. The thyroid is his only focus. I ended up deciding to start my cat on levothyroxine to get her out of the hypothyroid state in an attempt to save her kidneys. This was done with the support of my family vet but the protocol was based on my own research. Was it the right decision? I don't know. The outcome is TBD as of May 19, 2023."
