"We have recently moved to the area. When our baby got sick a couple of months ago, we had to find a new vet quickly. We called White Tanks and they were able to work us in. We've been there three times now. Once just for a nail trim. (Our boy is older and has a delicate system.) Dr. Foster has a phenomenal bedside manor! She's a hoot. You can tell how much she loves her patients! She gets down in the floor with them, on their level. Our baby responds very well to this kind of interaction. We left a wonderful Dr. back in Virginia. Of course, we'd been worried about finding a good vet here. We have been very, very happy with the service and staff here. *update* I took our baby in a few days before Thanksgiving. He had developed a limp out of nowhere. We saw a different doctor, not Dr. Foster. He was diagnosed with bone cancer. As it turns out, he had cancer, but not bone cancer. He had a lesion around the upper right leg. As well as a small protusion visible on the exterior. Also, his lungs were opaque. My problem is this, the Dr. made the diagnosis from an x-ray. She offered no advice except pain meds. She made no suggestion to have the x-rays read by a radiologist. Or, to do an ultrasound, or to take an aspirate. I walked out of the office numb and in shock. After a few days, I came to my senses and sought a second opinion. We went to two other veterinarians. The first was only looking at a picture of the x-rays on my phone. This doctor said the odds were that it was cancer, though not bone cancer. It didn't look to her to be in the bone. (It wasn't.) However, it could possibly be valley fever. (We were hoping.) The second doctor we saw, that she sent me to, did an ultrasound of his abdomen and an aspirate. HSA was confirmed. We had him with us for three more months. My real issue is the diagnosis was wrong because an x-ray was misred by a non expert. We could have gone down the wrong path with a survivable illness. I should have, at minimum, been offered further tests. I also had his nails trimmed that day to the tune of $30. Anything above $20. when I'm already there for other services, is outrageous. These are the reasons for amending my review. One other thing I will add. We did have a few appointments before the cancer diagnosis. It seems as though every time I went to the office, or called, I saw or spoke with, someone different. I would prefer to see and speak with the same people. It just makes the process seem more comfortable."
"I can’t even begin to express how wonderful this vet is. From the front office to the doctors and everyone in between, they were all great. We were seen quickly and our boy got the most compassionate care. They take their time to get to know your pet and get to the core of what’s going on. We did have to say goodbye to our good boy, but as hard as it was I’m very grateful to the whole staff for making the experience as comfortable as they could for all of us and treating our pet with love every step of the way."
"We had to put our babies down and I never knew a place that could be so compassionate and caring. They offered so many choices and I could feel the care! They tried my pet as if it were their own. I’m not a millionaire and they are understanding of the loss of our family member with a payment plan. Afterward we received a sympathy card in the mail and were able to have a few memories they provided with his cremation the staff and all the team there have big hearts and you got to love them for all they do and did for us. I will never take my pets to anyone else!"
"I wish I could give zero stars. This is one of the vet chains that is purely for EXCESSIVE profit. They put my almost 14 year old senior dog through a bunch of unnecessary, painful tests so they could make a thousand dollars. One example is they put a catheter in him to obtain his urine and I heard him screaming from the back. I had a very sick baby and they didn’t explain that I could have collected the urine myself without putting him through that. They took a fecal sample and drew his blood. They recommended a thousand dollar plus ultrasound (actually I think it was more than that). He was so sick and I was desperate to help get him better. I signed whatever they wanted me to because I just wanted him to be ok. The vet I have now (I found her when I was going through all this), gave me a tray that is made specifically for urine collection. No invasive procedure or catheter. Unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done for my Fred. He passed away about 8 days after I found my new vet. I wish White Tanks would’ve listened to me and not pushed all the costly tests/procedures. I knew what was wrong with him. I just wanted him comfortable and calm. They said it was a process but I think they knew there was really nothing that could be done. I would have rather known that, than be in the dark. Needless to say, I will never take any of my other dogs here ever. I miss you Fred. You were everything to me."
"This is Lola, my 9 year old Husky Akita who has never had puppies, been an active, and healthy dog all of her life. (that’s little B her little sister) I recently found a growth on her that sprung up suddenly. She shows no signs of discomfort, lethargy, changes in her eating, or anything. I just wanted to get a wellness check and get it checked out. It has grown quickly so my thought was a large pimple, boil or something. This was my first time here and when I went in for the appointment the vet came in, pet Lola, found out that she was not spayed and was literally hell bent on getting her spayed before I left. She didn’t care about my dogs well being at all. She barely even looked at her. It felt like we were the plague. She sat there and attempted to argue with me when I told her that I didn’t want to spay her. She then attempted to fear-monger me to get me to spay Lola. When I pointed out the truth in what she was saying she denied it but then said the same thing phrased differently. I tried redirecting the conversation to the reason I was at the vet in the first place, the growth on Lola. I asked about testing Lola and I attempted to get information on additional ways that I could holistically care for Lola. She continued to tell me that it was a waste of money to get her tested and the only real option I had was for her to cut her open. She then shared that she wouldn’t do anything for her unless I let her spay Lola. Leaving me no options for help. I was then told that I needed to find a holistic vet because I was not a good fit for “their” services. I left with no new information, she just told me it could or could not be cancer (which doesn’t take a rocket scientist to guess that), she wasn’t going to test her because it was a waste of money and that she needed to spay her and do surgery. From the interaction that I had here, it seems this particular vet doesn’t care about you having a healthy happy natural pup. They just want to cut them open, give them drugs and not talk about natural healthy options. You can’t get rich off of Mother Nature though so that’s clearly not an option for them. Needless to say I left very upset and will be looking for a holistic Vet. If your are more natural like me and care about what goes into your animal DO NOT GO HERE."
