"I went in to Anderson's looking for pellets for my mare with food allergies. Went to the lady at the front to ask about ingredients...she moved to the side, pointed up at the board, and said this is what we have. When I explained my issue with needing to know ingredients (again), I was told I should research feed online and then find out from the feed company where it was sold. It would have only taken a few extra minutes to go check a bag out back, heck I would have done it myself... I wanted to give my business to Anderson's, but with that attitude, definitely not stepping foot in there again."
"I’ve been looking for a local place to get some horse pellets, And with the attitude that came served from the front desk woman I don’t think I’ll be returning and will continue to go to discount feed. When I called the store, she was extremely sassy on the phone and cut me off before I could ask her my question about their horse pellets, and when I did enter the store and asked where I could look at the horse pellets, she said I paid for them now, and go outside and get them after. I asked if I could see what kind they have, and she moved aside, gestured to a selection list next to her, and moaned like I was a bother to not have seen it myself. She was just leaning on her phone the whole time. When I asked how many pounds the bags where she said “it’s listed right there” after looking I said, “oh..does it…?” She says “ahhh yeah! Sure does! Right here!” Really angrily pointing as they’re written “50 (pellet name) #”"
"We checked out Anderson's Feed &Tack. The employee at the register was very nice.We purchased items. We looked around checked it out."
"The item I went for had been discontinued a couple years ago. The lady who works there was not very friendly or helpful. I expected little more congeniality but not here."
"I never leave reviews, but after today, I feel it's necessary. I have been a loyal customer at Anderson's and C&H Hay for years without complaint. I order hay and feed regularly and have had mostly great loads of hay and feed. I normally feel comfortable ordering hay from Anderson's without going in to look at it as there has been no issue before. My last load of hay was of good quality but was baled so poorly (hay was cut like chaff and stems were 2" in length at most and bales ran light in weight) that I went from feeding 3/4 a bale a day to over a bale a day. This may not be an issue for most, but I feed free choice in hay nets. The hay was baled such that you couldn't hold a flake - when you tried to grab a flake, all you got was a handful of hay. Feeding it was a pain with A LOT of waste. A 25%+ increase in hay cost is no laughing matter, especially when your buy several months worth at a time. I talked with Mel the owner over the phone and told him that I have never had any major issues before, but that I was not happy with the last load because of the baling. I told him that I had over 50 bales delivered and had used about 10 of those. He asked what I wanted him to do about it and I asked if I could exchange the hay for his latest load. In my 20 years of horses, I have never returned hay before, as you get some good and some not so good loads. But I hear of others doing it regularly and know it's part of selling feed. Almost all feed stores understand this. Mel was not happy, but agreed to exchange the hay as long as I paid a delivery fee. I said that was no problem as the $20 was way less than what I was losing a week in hay because the hay waste and light bales. I went to the store the following morning and talked with the women at the front and said I was going to check the hay to be delivered (had 42 bales to exchange). Mel came out while I was looking at the hay. I was cordial and introduced myself and mentioned that he hadn't gotten any new loads of hay in and I could wait till the next load came in as he only had about 16 bales that weren't from the load that had been delivered to me and I need 42 bales. As soon as he heard that I had 42 bales to return, which we already discussed the day before, he lost it. Becoming aggressive and asking if i knew how much labor was involved in exchanging 42 bales. I reminded him that I had driven to the store based on the offer he made to exchange and asked why it was an issue now. He became more aggressive and said maybe I should feed my horses less so the bales would last longer. I said it was no problem, i understood his issue and he didn't have to exchange the hay, but I hope he understood that I may just take my business elsewhere the next time i needed hay based on his attitude and treatment of me. Even with his aggressiveness, I kept a cordial tone and tried to reduce the tension. He would have no part of it and wanted to continue to argue. I left...I have had mostly good experiences with Anderson's but I don't know if I will buy from Anderson's again based on the owners lack of respect for me and my time. I would have not been happy, but would have understood if he respectfully did not agree to the exchange during our phone conversation, but waited till I drove back to the store to come out and bully me in person. Not the kind of person I typically do regular business with. I have had great service from the rest of the staff and the feed I have gotten from them all the other times has been great, which is why I gave two stars. If it was based on the owner alone, I would have given one star or none if I could have."
