"As a former trainee for Rio Swim Club, I was made to feel uncomfortable and preyed upon by the primary manager Patrick Tolson. He kept asking me "What makes you different from any idiot on the street who can read a workout to these kids?" since apparently I "lacked passion" for the job I had been doing for almost a year prior in another state. When I was stunned at the unprofessional and rude question he kept asking me, he tried to intimidate me by asking, "Do I make you nervous?" I replied saying that he didn't. He replied almost proudly saying that he hears that he makes all of his employees nervous. He seemed to be very upset that I wasn't intimidated by his previous actions or that specific question and fired me on the spot in front of all the kids I was teaching, who were no more than 4 feet away. To say the least it was unprofessional, downright creepy, and he clearly intended to make me immensely uncomfortable the entire time I worked for him. I can tell it is not a one-off experience based on the stories I heard from other employees in the 1 month I trained for him. Evo Swim School is a separate business I also worked for during this time, and they are wonderful. The management is terrific and so are the instructors. Just don't enroll your child at Rio Swim Club. That man is a creep and needs to be kept away from young impressionable kids that might grow up to think that kind of behavior has no consequences."
"We love this swim school and especially my son's instructor, Kate. Some instructors I've noticed are just "going through the motions" or chit-chatting with other instructors during a lesson. But not Kate -- she is always really excited to see my son and I can tell that she is focused and really teaching the kids the right form, breathing techniques, etc. The other instructor we love is Kathy. She is amazing as well! Evo swim school is a bit of a drive for us and there are plenty of schools closer, but we choose to continue going here because of Kate and Kathy. The facility is kept clean, the front desk staff are friendly, and their makeup policy is reasonable (and you can book makeups online now, which is awesome!) I only wish the class sizes were smaller... 4 kids together in a 30 min lesson doesn't give the kids enough time in the water. But I know this is pretty standard."
"It’s time to do a recommendation for your kids. This is a really good swim school. Pools are really good, instructors are amazing and the staff is friendly; very nice people! Everyone loves their jobs. Absolutely best results. This is the 3rd swim school my daughter has tried and finally, she swims perfectly. They have their own team and encourage the kids to swim better. Don’t think about it! This is the place for your kid."
"Solid staff and they seem more professional than the guard and instructors at the location on Power Rd I am still in the early stages and my kid has not gotten to any of the "swim team" levels, but I will be watching that. Few months update: the instructors seem solid I've seen parents freak out at the instructors "pushing kids underwater" but that is a part of the teaching and I've never seen anything unsafe. The advanced stroke level is varied depending on the instructor, I've seen some instructors do very little with the kids and some do a bunch. I'm really looking for who will actually work to get my kid on team."
"My nephews take lessons here. The facility is purpose built for lesson which is wonderful. The instructors are knowledgeable and great with the kids. It’s clean and a great spot to take lessons. Indoor and outdoor pools."
