"It's just your average public education put into a campus. Yea, there's a few teachers here and there that are great and others that are terrible. If you really want and example of public education now-a-days here's how it was for me. The Spanish teachers I had took the time and explained throughly in each lessen and stayed on topic. A Human-Rights class I took which was also the U.S. Justice System teacher and one of my history teachers, assigned our class to write percentages of whose fault the holocaust was. Here's what the categories were: Allies, Jews, Nazis, God. Rules: each category needs to have a least 1%. I didn't do it and had to write a paper explaining why it isn't God's fault. Understand the U.S. fought as a theocracy before it became a Democracy and because of that we shall never forget we are one nation under God for if we do, we are then one nation gone under."
"I'm only a freshman but I can say that this school is already not the best school. I do not care for some teachers, the policies for the school are pretty bad, and I honestly don't really like being there"
"My daughters both attend WCHS and love the school in general as a whole. Im a Mom of a former Western Peaks School Student President and invitee to the National Honor Society Member every available year (from 3rd to 8th grade). What we don't love is the lack of funding which isn't the schools fault... My eldest daughter loves Theatre but funding was cut. Theatre was going away totally but at the last minute the school got it back. The teachers all have to be robots and follow the state or district dictated teaching itinerary. Gone are the days of teachers being able to put their own personal knowledge and thoughts into real teaching. This isn't the schools fault, its not even the teachers fault ... it's a district and state issue! I have friends with kids in other Dysart or other district schools and the problem is EVERYWHERE. Instead of picking & complaining, we as a community need to become involved in the process. Attend board meetings, be educated and aware of the bills and politics which effect our schools, neighborhoods and even home values. Love ya staff and students of Willow Canyon High School! Have a peachy summer!"
"My oldest daughter attended Dysart High School for two years and loved it. She thrived and had a great experience with everyone on campus. We moved, so this year she is enrolled at Willow Canyon. Within one month we have experienced poor treatment. She is in a knee brace and having surgery this week. The district has cut the buses so she has no way to get to school other than walk, which she cannot do for almost a mile and a half. There is no crossing guard set at Bell Road and Citrus where my girls would have to cross either. How is that a safe walking zone??? When my injured daughter went in to see about a bus pass, she was told that the district funding problems were more important than her "issues". They both have been treated like second hand garbage by the administration and they are begging to be enrolled in an online school. What teenage girl wants to give up the social life and activities that they are involved in because they feel the school doesn't teach well or have their best interest in mind? My freshman daughter's French teacher.....doesn't even teach them, just speaks in French and expects them to understand what he's saying or figure it out. I am at a loss because I have no options at this point. They are offering an override in November, and it's for maintenance and operations, not even transportation!!! How do you have all of these extra curricular activities, junk food in the cafeteria, new computers for the teachers, sports funding.....but no transportation? More importantly, I am irate at the way my daughters are being treated, they are good girls who are academically driven and just want to be successful so they can go on to college. I'm sorry I ever bought my house in my new neighborhood now, but I'm stuck and there's no hope this school or it's "administration" will do anything worthwhile to help. DO NOT PUT YOUR KIDS IN THIS SCHOOL!!"
"it was a horrable school! as a matter of fact the whole dysart school district is a load of crap"
