"A must do if you are in Phoenix! Am a native Arizonian and have loved this home ever since I was a child! It’s very unique and has breathtaking views! So much to see! Just make sure to bring PLENTY of water!! Stay on the trail as well! Do not hike when it’s dark as easy to get lost/stuck up there if you do! May see some lizards as well!"
"I have hiked a lot, multiple day hikes carrying 35 lbs. The description and the reviews said this was a very difficult hike, super hard. I poo-poo-ed a little. How can one and a half miles be that hard. Well..... They weren't lying....it was VERY DIFFICULT! When we turned a corner and saw a giant chain-link fence on the cliff side and an actual stair rail jackhammered into the middle of a sheer cliff face, I said to myself, "yep, difficult!" I'm not sure I would have made it up without the handrail. But I'm a 56-year-old Granny, so it is doable. Just take your time and WATCH YOUR FEET! The day we climbed, Friday March 1st, was pretty nice, not too hot. We each had a water bottle and that was sufficient, but it's barely March. We got there pretty early. There is lots of parking but it's very popular so try to get there early. It was totally worth the effort to get to the top; truly is on top of the world. You can see the entire valley all around. The desert really does have a beauty of its own! Five stars... I'd do it again!!"
"March 12th hike, about 60 degrees when we started at 10am and 70 when we were done at 12:30. This is a tough hike, bring plenty of water, like 2-3 bottles per person. There are MANY places you need to scramble up boulders, places with rails to help climb, and the trail is constantly climbing uneven rocks most times on steep inclines. About 2.4 miles there and back but it feels much longer!! Very beautiful views of Phoenix and the surrounding mountains. Definitely worth the trip. My 5 kids aged 10-23 all enjoyed it. DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED. No bathrooms or water on trail. Crumbly rock, you need shoes, not sandals."
"A tough hike. Must take plenty of water. There are places you need to scramble, places with rails to help climb, and the trail is constantly climbing rock most times on steep inclines. About 3 miles there and back. Very beautiful views of Phoenix and the surrounding mountains. Definitely worth the trip. A popular place to hike even on a weekday."
"This hike was tough, the people aren’t lying, but it’s so fun at the same time. I’m someone who likes a mental challenge while working out and so this was perfect. We went early morning before the sun really came up and the temperature was perfect. This is a great trail if you’re up for a challenge and want to feel great after accomplishing it. The views from the top on a clear day are great as well!"
