"I have been waiting here for 30 minutes with no relief in sight. The staff have 0 hustle and people have walked off in frustration. All I need is a minor repair."
"This year I’ve had really bad experiences at Costco’s optical department, to the point that I think I need to find somewhere else to go. It started in November when I went in for my eye exam. Dr. Valfre gave me a prescription that was significantly weaker than what I’ve had for the past six years, so I had to go in and have it corrected by Dr. Li, who was great. Then a couple of weeks later I ordered new glasses from the optical department and just a few hours after I picked them up, the ear pieces on the frames were sliding off. Further inspection also showed that the writing on the inside of the frames was rubbed off. I think this optical department gave me the display frames, rather than new frames, without telling me. I’m very disappointed and don’t know what to do. I wouldn’t necessarily have an issue with display frames if they weren’t broken, but most places offer a discount if they give you a display item, especially if it’s broken."
"Every person that I interacted with during my eye exam was super pleasant, from Dr. Penrod, to Jeff in the optical department who got my PD numbers for me. All of the tests went very smoothly after I checked in. No dilation necessary. (I had confirmed over the phone that I do *not* need a Costco membership to pay out of pocket $80 for an eye exam. I also added the $30 retinal scan, for my peace of mind. Dr. Penrod even emailed me the retinal imaging so that I could share it with my friends!) I was all set to pick out some glasses online with my new updated prescription. Very painless process."
"Lenses of both the clear and sunglasses developed micro cracks rendering them useless. Sunglass lenses tint was inconsistent that made them difficult to use. Had them changed out twice and still developed the same problems."
"Super fabulous experience! My eye dr (not Costco) was a jerk and refused to give me the pupillary distance part of my prescription. The nice lady at the Costco measured it for me, no problem-o. She even wrote it down so I'd have a complete prescription. Not to mention, I got a set of coach frames with the fancy super light lenses, that have all the scratch and glare coatings with matching leather case for $102. Granted, I have insurance which saved me about $100. The eye dr's office wanted $208 for a no name frame with similar bells, no whistles (leather case) on the same insurance. Next year I'm going to do my exam at Costco too. No more mean and withholding eye dr's office. So there you have it, Costco eye center, it's the best. Nice people, great prices, fancy glasses."
