"This place is very hit or miss. As someone in their 30’s I usually have great luck with their house items, lots of cute vintage trinkets and hit or miss when it comes to clothing. I’ve scored some great oversized blazers and free people stuff at a great price."
"I learned about White Dove when I was preparing for my son’s wedding and needed lots of glass trays and serve ware. I became a regular shopper - and always took my donations here even though the drop off process has been less than ideal (you have to unload your own vehicle, frequently don’t even get acknowledged by a worker) but today when I came to donate a like- new king size comforter and a Total Gym Pro (that I painstakingly loaded into my vehicle) I was finally acknowledged - only to be told that they don’t accept fitness equipment. Hmm, maybe the website should be updated (it CLEARLY says they do accept). Not to worry- I zipped to the nearby Goodwill, was greeted with a smile by a friendly young man that helped me unload - and gave a genuine thank you for the donation. I guess it’s time to rethink - thanks for enlightening me WD. PS I had seen a small item when I stopped by yesterday that I didn’t buy so when I was there trying to make my donation I ran in to buy it. The lady in front of me had many items in her cart and offered me to go in front of her. I thanked her kindly - only to be accused by the cashier of cutting in line!!! Just not my day at the dove."
"We had a wonderful experience with White Dove/Hospice of the Valley!! Our suite needed updating, so we were seeking to recycle our office furniture, decorations, and artwork. The coordinator replied back to me promptly, the guys picking up the items keep me informed, and even took extra stuff to our trash dumpster! Very impressed, keep up the great work!!"
"Very nice shop with a wide variety of merchandise in good condition. Two recent reviews are harshly critical of the shop's prices, claiming they are high or eBay-linked or for other reasons not entirely clear, although I suspect it boils down to the fact that the complainers feel the shop's price tags set amounts higher than they want to pay. Sure, we'd all like to get quality merchandise for $1 (probably like to be young and thin and beautiful, too). The shop's prices might be higher than they've been in the past, but what isn't? I'm a seasonal resident, so I just recently stopped in this White Dove location for the first time in almost a year, and the clothing items were priced a dollar or two higher than I expected, but the prices are still reasonable. Maybe what the price complainers are losing sight of is that there are two kinds of thrift shops: those geared more toward residents in need in the local area and those that contribute proceeds to charities, such as pet rescue or, in the case of White Dove, hospice care. When a shop is staffed by volunteers and sells goods to benefit a hospice service, I'm not going to begrudge their pricing policies. It doesn't matter to me (as one complainer griped) that since the store's inventory is donated they should (it seems) be happy to sell it cheap. This complaint overlooks whatever overhead the store has to pay (rent, utilities, insurance) and their goal of raising money for charity. Also, if the complainer inherited a gold watch, would he/she be willing to sell it to the first person who offered them a dollar for it? If so, I'll gladly provide my contact info."
"Really cute and clean thrift shop. Much larger than it looks from the outside. I did find some prices to be a little on the high end but it is located in Scottsdale so sort of expected. Plenty of treasures to be found!"
