"I just stopped into the shop on a fact finding mission. The man seemed straight forward enough and appeared honest. Probably thought he knew more than anyone else in the world of comp engines. I opted to take my engine build to another high performance engine shop that I thought would be a better fit. Bear, CaveCreek, AZ"
"Very pleasant person. Called and He found what we needed. No one else seemed to do son"
"I brought in an engine in to Gene's on July '16 for a project I was building. It's a Ford 5.0 HO that I wanted the engine and heads rebuilt basically stock with an RV cam. I bought the motor as a rebuild and I ran the motor prior to taking it to Gene's and it had an awful vibration. So instead of chasing the issue, I just decided to have a full and complete rebuild - all the while asking the shop to notify me if they ran into anything that would cause the vibration. A few weeks later they called and said it was done. Full engine and heads rebuilt, new harmonic balancer...new everything! It plopped it into the project and never gave it another thought until I was ready to fire it up. That came in Feb '20 and it still runs like the day I brought it in. Vibrating at idle and getting worse as you increase the rpm's. Nothing has changed except I'm well over $2k out of my pocket! Upon inspection, I found the driver side head had 3 different rocker arms and 2 of them were rattling around. They could not be torqued down to take up push rod lash. The passenger side was all one rocker but still had a few loose rockers. New rockers today and they still won't torque. Wrong length push rods? Flattened lobes on the supposedly new cam? Bad/collapsed lifters? I called them to see if I could get any info regarding what parts they used on the rebuild. Some guy answered and didn't have a clue. He finally found a reference to the job but said he had to look up the paperwork/file. Never heard from him again. Bottom line - DO NOT GO TO GENES!! : Boat anchor for sale...cheap! :"
"I'm a DIY (amateur) mechanic but Pat took the time to chat, offer advice, and give me a few tips for the project I was working on. He even walked me through the shop to show me examples of hard-to-see problems with cylinder bores. Exceptional customer service!"
"Pat at Gene's went way beyond my expectations. He spent a lot of time explaining what could be causing my problems with my boat engine. The rates that Gene's charge is very reasonable and the turn around time is very quick. I would recommend their services to anyone needing a excellent machine shop."
