"Tucson location: Generally decent stock, domestics and some basic exotics nothing too wild (you're not going to find a stack of cocobolo here). A lot of S4S-type boards, occasionally something with some character but generally more straight-grained stuff, which is fine if that's what you're looking for. The big problem is the drying and milling. The last 3 times I had boards worked on for milling they came back not straight, not square, not flat- even though that was the instruction and each time they said it'd be accomplishable. They get it 80% there, charge full price anyway, and don't call to let you know there are any potential issues- which isn't good enough to work with. So after paying 50-100 bucks for milling, I have to then re-do the milling work- which is a shame because I'd like to be able to trust them with more of my business, but I can't based on repeated experience. Other problem is the drying (or the storage? most stock is not stickered)- their S4S material is generally pretty medium to severely cupped/bowed/skewed. The other day I was in to look at precut s4s for cutting boards and the first two sticks I picked up and paired were at least a 1/4 inch off from bowing. The staff are generally knowledgeable and friendly, nice place otherwise. Bottom line- bring your squares when buying boards (expect way more movement than typically) and do not trust their milling service (unfortunately)."
"This is a fairly amazing place, catering to woodworkers. They have a great selection of hardwoods in several species, thicknesses, widths, and lengths. Also, lots of blanks for bowl and spindle turners. Lots of tools and power equipment. Definitely worth your time to check them out."
"Went to the store to pick some wood to fabricate some shelves; my husband and I didn’t know what to get so Alfredo took The time to explain and advice us what could work better for the type of project we were doing. Helped us with the stains and conditioners and once we picked the wood we were going to buy, he immediately prep it for us to tale it home. Great costumer service and we really liked to talk to someone who knows about the things they sell in their store. Will definitely buy there again."
"Excellent support for craftsmen (and women). Professional grade tools and pricing for wide selection of wood competes with big box stores. I've used them for many years."
"I had mill work done and the person who helped me was very thoughtful and did good work and worked steady and safely and the wood came out beautiful. I would recommend their mill work to anybody who needs it."
