"Rio Rico Mexican Grill moved into the old Serrano’s Mexican Restaurant space at the NE corner of Guadalupe and Val Vista in Gilbert. Walking in the door, I liked how they freshened up the dining room. It seemed a little brighter and it felt clean and tidy. It wasn’t very busy as we were seated at our table at noon on a Saturday. By the time we left, at about 1:30, there were more seated guests than when we arrived but there was still ample seating. Our server was a friendly young lady. She brought us our chips, salsa and ice teas right away. My friend ordered the combination fajitas and I ordered a ground beef hard shelled taco and chicken enchilada with green sauce combination plate, which was not listed on the menu but our server happily accommodated my request. The food came out quickly and everything was hot. The fajita portion was huge! I’d like to say I was amazed by the food but I really wasn’t. It was good, and I’d be happy to eat there if I lived in the immediate area, but it’s not a place I would drive too far out of my way to visit again."
