"I had a really lovely experience shopping with Avenue. I purchased a vintage knit tank and sweater set online, and they reached out to me to ask me if I still wanted it after they noticed a small stain on it. I requested that they try to remove the stain for me and they actually did it then sent it out to me. I don't think every shop would've been that attentive to detail let alone transparent about it AND also handled the mend, so I really felt taken care of and appreciated the top notch customer service. I'd shop here again."
"I had a weird experience with Avenue Tucson. This is my favorite sort of small local boutique with unusual artisan made apparel and products for the home. I found a locally made shirt I loved, but they didn’t have the size I was looking for. The sales associate assured me that because the shirts were made locally, I could place the order and they’d reach out to me for sizing details a few days later. I paid $86 and then waited for the outreach. After waiting 2 weeks, I found their store contact info and proactively emailed them to ask. They responded within the hour to apologize that they weren’t actually able to get the shirt made in the fabric I’d requested. They gave me some other options and I picked one that was $119. They told me to place the order online and that my original pricing couldn’t be honored. Because I’d already paid $86, I requested a refund first before purchasing the other shirt. Then, after being super friendly and responsive throughout those exchanges, they suddenly went totally dark on me."
"I have been a customer at Avenue Boutique for several years and what keeps me going back is the amazing way this local store is run. The product assortment is exquisite and special and I do travel all over the US and have shopped in several comparable boutiques. I feel grateful to have been able to shop with the owner as she helps me add on to my wardrobe with items that fit well, while managing to my budget. She has her own designs which are unique and I have purchased a few of those as well. I have been able to put better outfits together and wear things in multiple ways I hadn't thought of on my own based on her advice. I highly recommend this boutique for its standard of service, great gifts, and apparel and accessories that I continuously get complimented on while on my travels. Thanks Avenue Boutique! You go above and beyond for your customers."
"This is one of the loveliest storefronts in Tucson, and could definitely compete with contemporaries on either coast. Honestly, I can't afford to shop here very often but I window shop when that's not possible. It's a nice end to grocery shopping just a few doors down. The space is very inviting and inspiring whenever I do purchase anything, I wear it frequently and praise the designers and the store from which it was acquired when complimented or asked. The three stars isn't for any of the above. It's foolish and unrealistic to expect anyone (especially women and/or business owners) to be overly-accommodating and smiling idiotically for everyone, always. The owner is just so cold and insincere when she speaks and it rubs me the wrong way. I also get the feeling that I'm constantly racially profiled if I happen to come in and window shop for inspiration or to make notes for things I'll consider buying in the future. It's not a great feeling for someone who genuinely enjoys being there and recommends it to people who travel through town or are seeking to improve their wardrobe."
"The only reason the other reviewers have given this store a 5-star rating is that it is rare in Tucson to find a store that does not sell *total* rubbish. This is hardly a good basis upon which to give a good review, is it? If you look on Yelp, there are several reviewers who have rated this store 1 or 2 stars - for the same reasons I have - but Yelp doctors its reviews so that only certain ones are easily accessible. These tend to be positive ones. The owner is the most supercilious shopkeeper in Tucson. She thinks she is better than you, and it shows despite her trying (not very hard) to hide it. Wake-up call: you're the one having to sing for your supper and getting paid to serve me, not the other way around. So let's be realistic here. She is also either not very familiar with her products or an outright liar. She claimed that an item I was looking at was 100% linen, when it was a blend of linen and cotton. Her items are WAY overpriced. Yes, they are better quality than the average in Tucson, but one does not necessarily have to pay an arm and a leg to obtain clothing made of natural fabrics. The sizing is also off. For example, her pyjamas are way too large on the top, but too small on the bottom. She was asking over $300 for these simply because they are 100% cotton (or was it linen? cannot recall). I am glad I did not allow myself to get ripped off, because I simply walked over to Marshall's down the street, and obtained an accurately sized Kate Spade 100% cotton pyjama set for one sixth of the price. $300 is what one pays for cotton pyjamas made in England by a bespoke company, not for pyjamas made by a local from Tucson who overcharges simply because she is the only store in town that sells mostly natural fabrics clothing, and is located right next to a natural foods store on a main avenue. She would not even give me a few dollars' discount on a sale item, even though I only asked because her credit card system was not functioning properly, and as I do not make it a habit of carrying cash, I only had a few dollars less than the price of the item. This is considering that at the time I asked, I was ready to spend over $400 in her store. All in all unpleasant, and unpleasant enough that, over 6 months after my visit, I still remember enough to waste my time writing this review."
