About Us

Crown Point Trailhead is a park located at 1341-1373 Crown Point Parkway in Cascade, Idaho, United States. The institution is managed by the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation (IDPR) and the Bureau of Reclamation. The park offers various recreational activities such as camping, hiking, mountain biking, and water sports on Lake Cascade.
The public is invited to attend an open house on April 2, 2024, at the American Legion Post #60 in Cascade to learn about the marina project and provide official comments. The proposed project includes increasing public parking, seasonal boat slips, fuel sales, and rental facilities. Representatives from Tamarack Resort will be available to answer questions.
Winter camping is available in designated areas, and Osprey Point Yurts can be reserved year-round. Lake Cascade offers group camping, individual campsites, day use areas, and boat launch ramps. Visitors can enjoy activities such as windsurfing, fishing, hiking, and white water rafting on the nearby North Fork of the Payette River.
The park is open year-round, with reservations available from the Thursday before Memorial Day to Labor Day. In the winter, camping is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. Day-use hours are from 7 am to 10 pm. For more information, contact the park at (208) 382-6544 or visit their website.

"Great trail for riding your bicycle or walking along the lake. Much of the trail is shaded with great views of the lake. The trail is not paved but it is relatively smooth with fine gravel and dirt. There is access to the lake at various places along the trail. When we stay in town we bicycle the trail regularly. We wish it could be extended to be longer but I guess there are land ownership and right-of-way concerns."
"Beautiful view + had the place to myself for a quick bite. Was covered in snow so was a winter wonderland."
"Awesome lake. Awesome hiking, fishing, paddle boarding, boating! Campgrounds all over, but most are by reservation, so empty spots are few and far between. Beautiful area"
"What a great trail! We are here on a long road trip and decided to stretch our legs with a hike by the lake. This trail was an old railway line and if you look hard, you can catch a glimpse of rails once in a while. The trail is wide and well groomed. It bens around by the water and there are a few places with easy access, should you feel the need to jump in! Lake Cascade is beautiful and this is a nice meandering trail. No real hills to speak of, so it’s a great trail for all skills and activities. 5.3 miles or so each way, out and back."
"Lovely, multi-use trail on perimeter of lake with several access points to sandy beaches."
