"Had the unfortunate experience of watching a good friend retain Steve Mank to resolve a criminal matter. I watched for more than a year as Mr. Mank refused to return his calls, answer his emails or provide basic discovery or other information about my friend's case, except for the occasional call from Mr. Mank's secretary to "be in court tomorrow" so that he could adjourn the matter and kick the can down the road. After firing Mr. Mank and retaining competent counsel, the case was resolved almost immediately on terms that were far better than what Mr. Mank had negotiated* (I'm sure there was no negotiating by Mr. Mank at all). As an attorney, I was horrified to have to stand by and watch. How Mr. Mank has avoided numerous disciplinary proceedings and ethical complaints is beyond me. If you're in a genuine bind, find a lawyer who takes the duties he or she owes to their client seriously. Someone who actually cares about you and who will devote the time and attention to advancing your interests, even if that means paying a little bit more for it."

"Mr. Mank was not good at all. While my husband's lawyer we could never get him tooi answer phone calls or emails, he only went up to see him to discuss his case three times the whole seven months he was his lawyer and didn't know the case at all every time he went to see him. When court finally came he did not look professional at all and he didn't even look at the evidence before the day of court or give my husband the discovery so he could view it and absolutely refused to send any paperwork to me or keep in contact with me about the case. The motion was written without viewing the evidence and all cases that were referred to had nothing to do with his case at all. He was more concerned about getting him to take a plea than actually defending him. I do not recommend him at all!"
