"I’ve been here since June 2022 (~1.5 years) and I really like what I am learning here. Sensei is really knowledgeable in the martial art and also the “lore” behind it. I did kajukenbo (a mixed martial art) for 3-4 years and I like this one better. I don’t like things that are very athletic, and this fits me really well. My fellow students are nice people and this dojo is a positive environment to learn and grow. Hopefully I’ll be here until I’m 18! Haha -Lars P.S. My old martial art didn’t plan the unit/lessons, so we just did whatever the instructor thought of. I really appreciate the planning into our lesson for the day/year."
"After practicing a few other martial arts, I have settled into the Bujinkan. I enjoy the depth of the teachings of Muir Sensei, The history of how the techniques have become, as well as learning the perspectives of Japanese culture. There is also a wide variety of weapons to train which make the learning experience challenging and fun for me. After studying Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, Taekwondo, Kickboxing, and Kung Fu, this is where I choose to be."
"I haven't been here for very long at all, but I already feel welcomed, it is the best community ever. Shane sensei is the best teacher ever. the way he teaches the class it very good it really wants you to learn as soon as he starts talking. i have only good things to say about this dojo and community."
"My kids have attended this dojo for quite some time now, and I have nothing but positive things to say. Shane Sensei is simply excellent at what he does. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable, but he is also very patient with and respectful toward all his students. It’s clear they aren’t just dollar signs to him. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching my children progress, and I look forward to the growth they will experience in the years to come. Ultimately, if you’re looking to begin or further your training in the Japanese martial arts, this is the place!"
"April 2022 will be my kids fourth year of Bujinkan with Shane Sensei and The Living-Warrior Dojo. When my son started, he was uncoordinated and unsure of himself. Sensei Shane has always been patient and understanding with how my son learns. He also doesn’t let him give up and knows when to give him a little push to achieve more than he believed he could. We also have a daughter training at the dojo. Martial arts isn’t her thing but we saw the value in the training and wanted her to learn how to defend herself if the need ever arose. My kids have learned respect, perseverance, patience, determination, self confidence, and cooperation in a safe, encouraging environment. We love that there are no competitions, just a growth mindset. I like to think of this dojo as a Mr. Miyagi type training instead of Cobra Kai. Respect and discipline are taught but in the way of mindfulness and understanding. Hands down the best dojo and Sensei around."
