"Lived here for approx 16 years, management was always bad, most of the tenants use drugs, and are on the HUD program (which management is pushing to remove) as for the price of the rent, you can find something way better. They believe they can increase the rent because of the location, but having no actual garage, and having to pay EXTRA for the public washing and drying services is crazy with the already expensive rent."
"First off I want to say I been living in this complex for almost a year. The updates they have done are amazing! Amanda the manager of mt. Vernon is amazing. She is fast at getting back to the tenants on any issue they have. Steve the maintenance man has been doing a amazing job keeping up on the maintenance repairs! If I could give this place 10 stars I would! They have done so much around here to make our living experience great and they have successfully fulfilled that with the updates to the apartments and hard work they put in day to day. Highly recommend renting from mt.vernon you will not regret it."
"I have lived here four years and the previous management was aweful never did repairs or listened to concerns the new management is great Amanda is the best landlord and Steve is always prompt on fixing things when needed not to mention a really nice guy. I feel so much safer and thankful to securities property for what they have done for this property and community and for me and my low income family."
"I've read that the person instrumental in buying Mount Vernon Terrace has an interest in restoring and preserving it as he used to live here himself with his mom many years ago. I understand there are tenants who are upset about remodeling and changes being done, and I am fully understanding about that. Even today a notice said that upper floor residents have to leave their apartments next week for some fixing of the stairs. I am perhaps coming from a different perspective. I am really happy I was able to move here. Had to move from a rural area to the city to be close to doctors, which I hated. The place I moved to first had traffic, sirens, and even gunshots in the night, full anxiety mode. But for me this apartment is wonderful: pine trees, walking paths, the g'kids can visit anytime, grocery store a block away, ground floor instead of an elevator, a patio for my plants! It's like living in the country but close to groceries and my doctors. And Steve and Amanda are friendly and helpful, and really seem to enjoy working here. In all, for me this is a good place to live. And yes, I am completely real. Just because I have an online pseudonym does not make me unreal :-D"
"I had a truly awful experience with the management at Mt. Vernon Terrace Apartments, both before and after Security Properties took over the complex. The old management was completely unresponsive to my concerns, and seemed to care very little about the needs of their tenants. Requests for maintenance were consistently ignored, and when I tried to escalate the issue to higher-ups in the company, I was met with stonewalling and excuses. Unfortunately, things didn't improve much after Security Properties took over the complex. While the new management seemed somewhat more responsive at first, I soon discovered that they were just as disorganized and unhelpful as the previous management team. My requests for repairs continued to go unanswered, and I found myself having to constantly hound the management just to get basic things taken care of. On top of this, the remodel of my apartment building was an absolute disaster. From the very beginning, it was clear that the management had little regard for the well-being or comfort of the tenants. The most obvious problem was the shoddy job that was done on the carpeting. Instead of replacing the carpet throughout the entire building, they only did half of it, leaving the other half looking dingy and worn. It was an eyesore, and it made the entire building look cheap and poorly maintained. To make matters worse, the management also decided to remove the top patio, which had been a favorite spot for many tenants to relax and enjoy the outdoors. They didn't even bother to replace it with something else, leaving us with one less amenity and no explanation for why they made this change. Overall, I would strongly advise against renting at Mt. Vernon Terrace Apartments. The management simply isn't up to par, and they seem to have little interest in providing their tenants with a decent living experience. If you're looking for an apartment in this area, I would recommend looking elsewhere. If I could rate 0 stars I would."
