"I tell everyone what a wonderful and unexpected surprise this place was. My husband, myself, our two kids, and our 18-year-old cat embarked on an eight month trip around the country in our motor home. After running into some nasty weather, we changed our route and ended up staying one night in the RV park next-door to this museum. This was the most wonderful museum we visited out of about 30 on our trip. We will make a special trip with this as our destination next time."
"We really enjoyed it there. There's like an entire old city that you can explore, you can even go inside all the buildings. The museum that is indoors is also great with a lot of interactive features. If it wouldn't have been so hot, we probably could have stayed there in other couple of hours. Also, it is very inexpensive!"
"Nice find. Enjoyed our 90 minute visit. We’ll maintained. Barn and sod house were highlights."
"We went there because my grandfather was born on Colby during the 1920s. This let me see my heritage, his heritage in a real way. The museum has an amazing collection of items. It was well displayed, well done. Far better exhibits than I expected. Outside, the buildings were great to walk through. I recommend watching the QR code-linked videos This was a great break on our road trip. And a fantastic walk down our family's heritage and history."
"Amazingly diverse collection that includes ancient artifacts from Rome, stamps, dishware, toys, coins, and memorabilia from Colby’s history. The military uniforms are very cool because they’re from local Colby residents and each has a photo and history attached. You feel much more connected to what you’re experiencing! There are several cool areas for the kids—there’s even an old horse ride that the kids can play on. Outside, there are buildings such as the oldest barn in KS, a schoolhouse with an old fashioned merry go round, and a sod house complete with cacti growing from the dirt roof!"
