Ontario School District 8C

"My complaints about Ontario School District in general and the Middle School specifically are manifold. We have had problems with teachers administering unproven tests for dyslexia that they are completely unqualified and unauthorized to administer. Additionally, during the COVID-19 shut down where the district decided to implement distance learning, there has (so far) been little to no communication with parents. As of the time of this review, it has been 19 days since the district has provided any updates. The teachers will only answer text and emails a few hours in the morning if a student has questions and the administration doesn't return calls at all. This is despite the fact that they all have Union contracts and are being paid the same as if they were actually teaching at the school for 8 hours each day. I should add that some of my daughter's teachers haven't posted a single assignment in a month and a half. Others only post 1 per week. I never want to hear any teacher in this district complain that they are overworked and underpaid again. From what I can tell, they have so far received a month and a half paid vacation at taxpayer expense."

"Bus our child to NYSSA rather than send her to Ontario school district. Inconvenient but well worth it to avoid Ontario."

"I do not like most of the schools in this District. The high school works against the child and has horrible communication with the parents and punishes the child and parents in any way they can. Power hungry Criminal Minds is how I feel about vice principal and principle of that school. It used to be good, I feel like a bad mom sending my kid there."
