Reviews of Tiner's Alley
"The atmosphere at this bar is engaging, making it a great spot for drinks. Whether it’s a weeknight or the weekend, it consistently buzzes with lively energy. Plenty of great wine options. Highly recommend staying upstairs at The Avery- order a bottle of wine and enjoy in the room."
"My husband and I went to Tiner’s Alley for our Christmas gift/date night tonight and were not disappointed. The ambiance was great, the service was attentive without being overbearing, and the food (every single thing we ordered) was perfect. We ordered the scotch egg - we would come back just for that, the Welsh rarebit, their basted burger - one of the best we have had in Idaho, and their profiteroles. They have a full bar and my husband got his normal drink and I got “the manitou” which is their whiskey sour with egg white and it was, again, meticulously perfect. For 2 appetizers, one entree, one desert, and 3 drinks, we were at around $100 before tip which is a lot for us, but for the level of detail put into the food and dining experience it was totally worth it and we will be back for our next special occasion or date night!"
"This was a cool place to eat. The atmosphere was great! The space is in a restored old building and it was pretty lively on a Friday evening. I thought the service was excellent. I thought the food was just okay. I ordered the fried chicken; the portion was huge with four pieces of chicken, but I didn't think the taste was anything special. I had a bite of the shepherd's pie that my friend ordered, and it was good."
"We had such a great experience. Our server, Elyssa, was amazing and so was the food and drinks! We will be back for sure. Id also love to see a few more vegetarian options - hint hint to the Chef."
"Wow, loved celebrating my birthday at the new Tiner’s Alley bar with my wife and daughters last night, an authentic English/Scottish pub in the beautifully restored Avery Hotel (the old Blues Bouquet and Manitou Hotel building in downtown Boise, you have to see this meticulous restoration by a Boise couple who boomeranged back here from Brooklyn on their Insta @TheAveryHotelBoise). Great service and suggestions from our server Elyssa, starting with classic cocktails: Strand, Granada, Old Fashioned and an off-menu Gin concoction called "The Last Word" that bears repeating. Unique charcuterie appetizer with roasted nuts, cured meat, pickled eggs, bleu cheese, crusty bread on a bed of frisee' with a Scotch Egg on the side - Yes! A perfect Scotch Egg in Idaho!?! Jammy yolk, just enough breaded sausage crust, not too heavy, and drizzled with a creamy sauce, nowhere else in this city will you find a Scotch Egg like this, it's an art form. My dinner was the Tiner's Basted Burger, a thick, rare patty with bacon, Irish cheddar and a zesty sauce between an English muffin with fries and baby cornichons on the side, the ladies enjoyed Lamb Shepherd's Pie, Fish and Chips, and Bangers and Mash, all excellent and all $20-$30 for very large servings. Dessert was chocolate bread pudding with decadent sauces and a little wine and whisky (the proper kind, without an "e"). Truly a place that's great for a special occasions, or just to have a wee dram of the water of life with some soda crackers while sitting in front of the majestic, towering original 1903 Manitou Hotel mirrored wooden backbar that outshines it's slightly older competitor for best restored historic bar in the state at the Idaho State Museum. And today, Dec. 8, 2023, is the 120th birthday of the Tiner’s Alley bar! It is nice to hang out with friends in my same age group..."
