"We've used mountain view for years, but we won't anymore. Took in our RAV4 and they quoted a $1k+ fix for brakes and a steering coupler it when it's never had any issues before. We took it to Jerry's and they said the steering coupler is fine and definitely doesn't need to be replaced and that the last people to change the oil (Mountain View) didn't tighten something and oil had leaked. Won't rate lower because we've had good experiences with them in the past."
"Please read the whole review if you are considering going here. I hate writing bad reviews, and I try to assume the best in everyone, but how bad my experience here was pretty hard to justify. I've read nothing but good things from other people, so do your research, but here are three reasons why I won't be going back to Mountain View Auto. (Tried to overcharge me) First time I went in they tried to charge me for extra parts that weren't needed, double the price. When I pointed out they were charging for extra parts, they changed it, and said it was an accident. I figured it could have happened to anyone, so I came back. (Didn't fix what I asked) I brought my car back in for new serpentine belt and to fix a high idle. Two days later they say that they couldn't get either either act up, so I pick up my car and turn it on. Both act up. I got the mechanic and showed him, and turns out, yup it had a high idle and the belt was squealing. Was without my car for two days and they didn't fix a thing. They also gave me a list of other "needed" repairs, see below. (Said ball joint was bad. All of them were fine) On top of not fixing the two things I had asked them to, they claimed I needed a new ball joint and I shouldn't drive the car at interstate speeds because of how bad it was. On top of that my they said my spark-plugs were bad, needed new valve cover, and wanted me to pay them $100 to clean my battery. Felt fishy so i took it elsewhere and NONE of the joints were bad, I even had them inspected twice to make sure. The rest of the repairs I had done at a fraction of the price Mountain view quoted me. I'd like to think these were accidents or misunderstandings, the employees were always polite and communicated with me well, even didn't charge for some of the inspections. But after three bad experiences, and the dishonesty I experienced, I wouldn't recommend going there."
"I really like working with this shop. They know what they're doing and take good care of us. I'd recommend you consult with them on what work and parts are best for your car's age, your budget, and how long you plan to own it. They tend to recommend preventative maintenance and OEM parts, truly because they want you to have the best long-term fixes and parts and not because they're wanting your money, but they're knowledgeable about the pros and cons of each choice you can make and will respect your decisions. Really glad we have them here in town."
"They were all professional, polite and knowledgeable. Also, their willingness to go above and beyond to care for my car and share with me industry standards for my brand and model to help me keep pace in what I need to do to care for my car without breaking the budget was more than I asked for and reason to return again for such excellent service. They also honored the estimate when an unexpected price was found on my final bill. True Professionalism worth making your go-to auto guy! :)"
"No better place to have your Japanese vehicle serviced or repaired. Once you get past Roger's Subaru jokes, there is a pleasant waiting room. (I would not drink the coffee, but take your chances.) If you have an appointment, the service is thorough and fairly quick. Prices are competitive, any probably better than the quicky lube places because these people REMEMBER to replace drain plugs and oil filler caps. Your car will get a very complete safety check. The new facilities are going to make a great place even better. I am impressed with all the environmental controls for recycling used motor lubricants and coolants. I've never had them try to sell me some service I did not need. Highly recommended."
