This Life Protection School follows the teachings of Taika Seiyu Oyata, focusing on saving lives rather than warfare. The instructors have trained with Taika for many years and continue to uphold his philosophies. The training is a hybrid of Chinese and Okinawan martial arts, with a fluid and traditional approach.
Women's Self-Defense courses have flexible age requirements, and the learning environment is casual with no pressure to compete or test. No uniforms are required, allowing students to wear comfortable clothing for movement. The institution offers a variety of paths for students to choose from, whether they seek basic self-defense, police safety training, traditional martial arts, or weapons training.
Note that the institution may be relocating to North Carolina in the future, but the teachings will continue in the Kansas City area. Students are encouraged to set goals based on knowledge rather than belts, with black belt tests only taking place after meeting all curriculum requirements. The curriculum includes Atemi Jutsu, Bogu, Kobudo, Kyusho Jutsu, Shodo, and Tuite Jutsu. Join RyuShinKan - Kenshukai Martial Arts to embark on a journey of self-discovery and protection.

"At RyuShinKan - Kenshukai, the monthly fee is $30 (my jaw dropped when I first heard this). There are NO special fees, no contracts, no required uniforms, and no goofy yelling. The worst part about this dojo is that the instructors give you all of their attention--about 80% is one-on-one instruction. Another bad thing is that you'll have to learn real self-defense instead of proving you can do the splits or break a board with your head. The discipline you are taught at this dojo, Oyata-Te, does not require strength or agility (or yelling), but just precision and practice. Lee & Tony are not only highly skilled in their art, but also excellent teachers. This dojo is fantastic."
"Excellent martial arts school. It's a very laid back atmosphere with an emphasis on mechanics and understanding; not rank and competition. The instructors are very skilled and know the art well. I've been coming here for a couple of years and plan to continue."
"This is a great dojo to come and learn real life protection art. The instructors are very knowledgeable and extremely dedicated to passing on their art as taught to them by Taika Seiyu Oyata. I have had the pleasure of working with them at seminars and through online classes to better enhance myself and my students. If you’re looking for traditional Okinawan martial arts or great life protection the look no further, they are the best! Jerald Carter CMAI Karate Jacksonville Fl."
"I knew their school and style from the blog of one of the instructors. I immediately saw the knowledge and depth on the subject. Finally after months of email exchanges I decided to leave Canada to go train with Tony and Lee, they were really generous and they opened my eyes to real karate, my vision was completely changed. Very good school, good philosophy and know what they do. They were trained by a real master. voila Jimmy"
"Awesome school! There is so much to learn from traditional karate, practical self-defense training, and weapons. Classes are customized around each student. Instructors have a lot to offer. Highly recommend."
