"I have worked with EA for 2 years now as a Mentor Teacher. I have learned a lot about mentoring future educators and have been pushed to grow my practice as a classroom teacher."
"The Educator Academy prepared me to follow my passion for positively impacting the lives of students in my city. The network and relationships I have built have been invaluable. The program and its wonderful people have supported me in every way imaginable on my journey to being an effective educator."
"The Educator Academy was a game changer in my life. I had over 18 years experience in Early Childhood and my experience is like a person being great at playing street basketball. My experience going.through the academy was like a street basketball player getting drafted to the NBA. Through the academy I honed in on the skills that I had and polished them by learning enriched pedagogical practices in order to pass the teacher certification test and complete my masters degree."
"Educator Academy is an excellent program with above and beyond support for its teachers! Their leadership focus on human first practices with a focus on high quality partnerships and offerings. Cannot say enough positive things about how this non profit is investing in our city!"
"I was not a fan of the way they treated residents. I was given 3 placements to choose from and was given my 3rd option, the only one I didn't want. When I arrived at my placement and informed my coach that my coteacher was leaving me alone in the classroom for lengthy periods multiple times a day, which is illegal as I was not certified, nothing was done and her behavior was excused. My coach replied with "Well, she's not going down the hallway to just talk with other teachers or mess around is she?" How was I supposed to know, I was stuck in the classroom alone I couldn't follow her obviously. Additionally, the behavior of the students in my classroom was insane and my coach insisted that was typical behavior in all classrooms. this included students slapping my coteacher in the face, writing she was a b word on the board, climbing on bookcases and trying to escape out the window, tripping teachers and students multiple times a day, chairs thrown multiple times a day, threats of violence to themselves and others, students assaulting others and making them bleed, etc on the daily. I worked very hard on my materials and did not feel validated for my very hard work. Additionally, overtime work was enforced, such as conferences and other events."
