"KIPP SCHOOL-VICTORY does not provide a structure and nurturing environment for disadvantaged students. Instead their policy is to retain low performance students despite their disabilities. Researchers have shown that KIPP only focus on students that thrive and have a high rate of disadvantage students that leaves their schools. For two years, KIPP has failed to provide any resources and discriminated against my grandchild who has a disability. The family had repeatedly asked for the school assistance in testing the child but they constantly lied stating that they were committed in given the student the resources needed. After two years of back and forth no resources were provided. Instead their solution was to as per policy to retain the student. St.Louis should not support a school that openly discriminated against disadvantaged students with disabilities . I find it strange that this school has a high rate of uncertified teachers. I also found out during our battled with the administration staff who took this matter personally that the teachers lesson plans are already made out. In other words, the teachers follow a script. Which confirms that they fail to provide a structure or nurturing learning environment to the students. The assistant principal gave my grandchild a certificate of COMPLETION and then a week later after he had an altercation with the parent sent an email stating that he was retain the student. Now, if you were retaining a student in the first place they should have never received a certificate of COMPLETION. Is there any one out there that can help us with this matter? Parents don't make the mistake we made in choosing KIPP. Please do your research first!!"
"It's a clean and friendly place for children to learn. The teachers are great and keep good track of each students progress. The keep the family together by having lots of family fun events to attend at the school."
"I like how strict they are with the children. The buses never on time and is hard to reach when you call their dispatch office. I started to pick my Children up. I absolutely love my Children's teachers, I feel they are very professional and really care about them. This is my kids first year. I have a kindergartner and a 2nd grader and I feel my 2nd grader is behind because of his previous schools and my Kindergartner is doing great. I wish I would have got my 2nd grader enrolled sooner. With Hard work and dedication he will be on his level by the end of this school year. Overall I do like this school any problem I have had I have been able to contact someone and get it sorted out that same day. No matter what school you put your kid in you cant control other kids or parents and how they raise their kids you just have to teach your kid how to deal with it and if they see something then say something We all play a part in keeping the school safe not Just the school."
"My daughter is in kindergarten first year at Kipp victory and I Can say so far I am not pleased with the unprofessionalism. They expect so much out of the kids and parents but don't fall through with their own work ethics. Everything is hidden from the parents it reminds me of a juvenile facility. The bus routes are a joke and they have excuse after excuse as to why the buses are hours late. Nobody has apologized for anything that has gone wrong this school yr. I thought kipp would be a great school when I researched it online but I was wrong this will be my child's first and last yr at this juvenile facility Even the teacher who commented was out of line with her way of thinking but I can definitely see why this school have a high turn over rate. No board of education so we as parents get the run around from the same office staff teachers and bus drivers that are doing it smh. Worst charter school EVER! When the teachers are complaining about the policies theres a problem. Thank God my daughter is only in kindergarten webster grove district here she comes..I'm almost late for work everyday waiting on my daughter bus to arrive. She's a good kid and deserve better."
"As an educator by profession myself, I know firsthand the complexities of this job. In nearly two decades, I have seen it all. KIPP is dealing with the same clientele of students as any other public school, but the way that they require the child to be an active part of the learning environment is unparalleled. There is no "busy" work and structures and routines are taught and expected. I appreciate that because chaos and craziness is part of the drama that interferes with the education of many other students in other schools. Parents are expected to be an active part of the learning environment and assist with homework and support the activities. Again, I don't see how this is a problem. The parents that complain about the structures or rules at KIPP unfortunately, seem to be unwilling to do their part to improve it because they don't attend the meetings and/or don't monitor their children's behaviors. I have read all of the negative comments left regarding KIPP and it deals with things that are outside of the school's control. How is it the school's fault because a child brought a gun to school? Shouldn't the parents of said child be held accountable? The school is "bad" because a child was bullied? Unfortunately, in the world we live in, this is an issue that occurs everywhere. Certainly, no child deserves to be demeaned, but this is not something that you can blame solely on the school unless they blatantly ignore the issue and fail to address it. Transportation can be an issue, but you can make arrangements to pick up and drop off your child if that works better for your schedule. Teachers are not magicians or babysitters. In order to have a successful institution, the parents have to do their part as well. Nothing is perfect, including the students, but they do know that there will be consequences to their actions and that their teachers care about them. It is for this reason that I moved specifically so that my own children could attend this academic based institution that prepares the children for a bright future once they leave their doors. KIPP is definitely a Knowledge Is Power Preparatory academy and I LOVE it :-)"
