"I moved into one of their units on Broad street last summer. Before moving in, the property manager refused to meet with any of us. She never called us, never gave any indication of professionalism, and was rushing me to put in a deposit even though it took days for her to respond to my questions. It was a massive red flag and I should’ve known then not to be moving in with such an unprofessional landlord. The first few months were fine until we encountered a parking and bug problem. The parking issue would not have been too big of a deal if the whole street wasn’t consistently lined with cars. I had to park multiple streets over on multiple occasions after I’d get off work. I worked around 30 hours a week and was a full time student. The last thing I wanted to do was walk streets over at 11:30 at night, all alone. It was not safe! Her response at first was to contact other tenants, but the next time I complained she texted back “Sometimes people aren’t rule followers and that’s just part of life. You have those other options and an option to move out. So going forward, I’m hoping this problem is resolved. And the lucky thing is, everyone is fortunate enough to have a vehicle and a roof over their heads. I think we are all doing pretty good in life!” The passive aggressive tone, trying to get us to break our lease, and treating us this way was very disrespectful. She also used to park in the handicap spot and suggested we do so too, even though that spot was reserved for another apartment, and parking in a handicap spot feels wrong to me. Then we had a bug issue. Our back door was not all the way closed and we could see light coming through, but the maintenance team thought otherwise. We had to keep complaining in order for anything to get done. When we finally had exterminators come in, they only did our unit even though I’m pretty sure they were coming from our neighbors. As our neighbors began to move out, I continued to spray my own Home Defense spray and it saved us. During winter break, I thought the renovations would be done in a day and that I could do my own thing. However, people were in my house for multiple days. The only person who was polite to me was an older gentleman. One of the younger guys said “normally people aren’t here when we are doing this” multiple times to me. Hinting that he wanted me to leave. Anytime anyone came to our apartment, whether it was them giving a tour with less than 24 hours notice, them coming in to “fix” something, etc., they never introduced themselves. I never knew who I was letting in to my home and I felt completely disrespected the entire time living here. I highly suggest renting from somewhere else and not here. Landlords and property managers are career titles. Those titles are not an excuse to treat tenants like passive income."
