"I checked in before the 15 minutes grace period and paid for visit and dr. Heineken told the secretary my appointment was canceled. Why did they let me check in if i was late?? I see why the reviews are so low in this department"
"My boyfriend recently had an appointment here The staff was friendly, and the wait time for an appointment for a new patient was literally next day stuff. I have no idea why everyone has been having a hard time contacting them, or needing to wait so long for an appointment. he had to check in twice, and had no idea. He signed in down stairs, and up in the office. Odd. At the actual appointment, he saw a resident, her name is Laura Russell. At the appointment she made efforts to make him comfortable and made sure his expirience was hygenic. She was very kind and knowledgeable. She asked another doctor (wes, or west?) for a second opinion to make sure he was getting the best care. 4 stars, good visit"
"I wish I would have seen these reviews of this dermatology dept at Slu on grand. I was referred by my trusted physician for a second look at a lesion on my nose. This was an atrocity. This is nothing like any dermatologist. I have been to in my 59 years much less protocol. The doctor did not research my profile as I am linked in to the same network of doctors and hospitals, and have been for years. From the beginning, Laura upton came into the room. She did not wash her hands. She did not use sanitizer much less use gloves she was clearly sick Probably the common cold but for me I have systemic lupus. Of course she didn’t probably research that as I was a new patient. I should’ve asked her to wear a mask as she was breathing in my face and touching me, the initial exam of any other spots on my body was a quick swift ( nothing) I had to try to pause her for a minute, It didn’t work she was on a mission to get in and get out and cattle prod. I was there to see if there was other options of different types of ointments We could probably use for my nose and not have something so drastic done as a shave biopsy, which left me scarred not only physically, but mentally mind you she didn’t wash her hands before she did the procedure, they didn’t talk me through what the results would be afterwards I left with no wound care instructions and no follow up visit (for pity sakes) I could smell what she had for lunch on her breath. Two days later I came down with the worst flu as we speak, that I have had this year. It is easy for me to catch anything with systemic lupus, what is a common cold to her is disastrous for me. They proceeded to pretty much push me down on the table, and while she’s bearing down on my nose, she is either speaking to herself or whispering to me this is gona leave a scar, and this is before a needle was stuck into the wound to deaden it The first one didn’t work so it had to be done again it was extremely painful and I was left in tears and in shock, to be told the same results I already knew I had before I came there. It took me three days that being Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday without any wound care instructions I was trying to tell her as she was rushing out the door, to sit on her butt at her computer along with all the other little doctors in the big huge cubicle area that I do not have (my chart) she shut the door on me before I could finish my sentence. I left there in tears, walked to the elevator, and to my car in complete and utter shock. I felt as if I was treated like just some flunky coming through. I believe I got all of 22 minutes from her to scar me for life, not only physically but mentally, and she gave me a great infection that I have been carrying around for two weeks, the protocol is to wash your hands, you sanitize, use gloves and not to breathe on me if you are clearly stuffed up and raspy this is the very worst dermatology department, I implore everyone to run don’t walk run away. I intend to take this to the Advocate, because obviously, from all the other comments they have not changed their protocol in any way, shape or form, it is unprofessional and there was no compassion given, and it’s unheard of to walk out of a shave biopsy without wound care, instructions in hand, and a follow up visit, and then I tried to call the next day for the wound care instructions, and they replied, with go to (my chart) which I told her I did not have, I had to ask my sister who is my power of attorney to come and download it on my phone so that I can get any type of results. Doctors do not like to be called out but somebody’s got to do it and obviously from every single review, they have not changed anything , I don’t recommend them to anyone and they can have their nice little building but eventually enough people will get sick of it and they will not be visiting there and they cannot possibly run that dermatology department without us their patients what they signed up for compassion, kindness and good bedside manner and being hygienically correct. I give them (her) -0 stars!"
"It’s so unfortunate that I’ve been coming to this facility for years and only had good service when Dr.Abate was around. I have called several times this week for an urgent appointment for a sore that has made me immobile for the week. The pain from HS and not being able to move or find relief is already unbearable but being ignored by the doctors office is so frustrating. I called several times stating I do not care which provider I see I just need to be seen by any dermatologist in the hopes of getting a steroid injection for relief. My calls are answered and notes are entered by the call center but no one from the office ever calls to follow up and make an actual appointment. Urgent care does not provide this service and the hospital is my only option at this point until I can find a new provider outside of this company. I have the same issue when I call my PCP for anything no one ever answers the phone or returns calls at this company."
"I feel like I am just a number. I like the doctor, but the service is poor. Cannot get through to anyone for a refill of my medication. When I get onto MyChart - they don't even have my medications listed! They knew them when I was in the office. I can't even ask for a refill because they don't have my med listed. My son took months to get his refill. I hope I don't have the same problem"
