"I would prefer to give zero stars as I would NOT recommend this facility to anyone. They are not skilled in de-escalation techniques or in one-on-one counseling. Their program is based on rote material that they cycle through and repeat. This might work for a few, when admitted to a mental health facility, but most need more one-on-one patient centered care. I had a loved one admitted to Cottonwood Springs Changes outpatient. Rather than address the core of the anxiety - they advised the patient to “calm down.” As the legal guardian, I struggled to get return phone calls from the counselor. When I finally did receive a call back, he was dismissive, flip and rushed through the conversation. When I went into the building to ask to speak with the program director, I found the staff loitering around the front desk (on two separate occasions). They also gave my loved one’s belongings to another patient - and asked her to return the items - which is a HIPAA violation. I eventually spoke with an Olathe police officer who stated that their department received numerous calls from this facility, often lacking a rational reason for the call. He went on to say that he felt the program director was mismanaging the facility and patients were not treated well. Our school district (in Johnson County) no longer recommends this facility due to negative outcomes for several students within our district. If you or someone you care about needs professional help - go to Renew, Marillac or Children’s Mercy. Do not take them to Cottonwood Springs Changes. It is my hope that the state will eventually take notice and put this facility in the spotlight - so others are aware."

"miserable experience here. did php, couldn't bear to stay any longer afterwards. the staff here are extremely arrogant and power hungry. they'll use their position and authority to belittle you and make you feel like less than you are. please go somewhere else for help."

"Zero stars. This place is a joke and should be stripped of its license. Find anywhere else to go for care, this isn't it. Filing a complaint with the KS Board of Healing Arts. Some of the people working here should never be allowed to work with kids"

"I did IOP here. During intake they have you write down what you want to focus on in order to determine the group topics. They suggested I write down something else but self esteem is like the one problem I don't have so no I don't want to focus on that. Weekly they have you sign a document with your stated goals for legal reasons not explained. This document had their suggestions instead of my stated goals. I got pretty mad when they wouldn't show me the original document and insisted that I happened to write exactly the items they suggested. If it's not a choice maybe they could let us know what the topics are going to be instead of asking and then gaslighting?"
