Total Wine Spirits Beer & More

"This is a large liquor store with a large variety and competitive prices. This used to be Lucas Liquors but was bought out by Total Wine perhaps six months ago. They redecorated the place in a big way. Lucas had a large upscale warehouse look to it. Total Wine has a more polished look, with displays much more glossy and vertical. The service is much the same as before, which is quite good. Overall, the place looks very different than before but the shopping experience is much the same, and that is fine because it wasn’t broken before (so why did they need to fix it?)."

"Very cool store. Almost anything you could think of! Very friendly staff! Downside is they didn't weren't able to log my points because of some law in the State of Kansas. I spent twenty minutes trying to set that up, what a bummer."

"Meh. I'm primarily interested in whiskey. This store is a little out of my way, but I found an inexpensive daily drinker on their website, so I thought I'd check them out. When I arrived I found a $3.50 discrepancy and a $1 discrepancy on another product between two aisles. I found bottles a couple of dollars cheaper, right at market value, and others marked up by as much as $30. There was also an employee following me around at an uncomfortable distance. I pointed out the price differences and mentioned that I was there to compare products and prices to a store that was closer to me. Besides toting around two large bottles of inexpensive whiskey, I'm not quite clear on why the employee was tracking me. Maybe he was just a social misfit, but I was comparing prices on expensive whiskey, and towing around two bottles, it wasn't as if I was going to run off with anything. Finally, their selection of wine seems quite good, better than my local store, but the organization of the wine could be improved. Cabernets for example are organized alphabetically. That's fine if I know what I'm looking for, but I'm interested in Paso Robles wines, another may prefer Napas. It seems to me that varieties should be organized by region, then alphabetized. Just me? I'll probably give them another try, but cannot recommend yet."

"1st visit to 'Total Wine'. Very impressed with the size, layout and organization of this business. We were overwhelmed when first entering which led us to an employee waiting by the front door to am sure answer questions. We were greeted by Brady and from there started our wine '101' class. Brady asked us preference and off we went down several aisles and with each stop, he gave a brief history and/or detailed facts about the different wines. We were amazed at his wine knowledge and were introduced to varieties we did not know existed. The shopping experience was informative and fun. Want to emphasize that Brady was not enticing or pushing any product or sale. He simply was guiding us to the right area(s) of the store that fit our wine requirements. Highly recommend this business."

"I'll try not to compare this to Lukas, but that's very difficult. It's a mess. Yes, there is more to select from, but logically nothing feels the same. Shelves are out of order, boxes are in the center isles, and just boxes line the ceilings of this. It was also easier to point out an employee at Lukas or ask someone *over the aisles*. Now? Just a labyrinth. Also those local prices? No longer. We have wonderful up charges."
