"We've been wanting to try this place for awhile. The guajillo hummus was great, the eggplant lacked a bit of citrus but made up for it in seasoning, and the meat platter was very tasty although the steak was a bit dry. Overall you could tell the chefs tasted their food and knew what they were doing! We were in and out quite fast and they accommodated us being a little bit late due to a scheduling error on our part which we great appreciated. I would say that for Mediterranean food, Clay & Fire was quite expensive."
"Have been here a couple times and the food has always been good! Last night we got the haydari (Turkish yogurt side dish with dill and olive oil) and charred scallion feta as our two meze - so fresh and delicious! For our mains we got the Grandma Pizza and the kebab trio platter. The pizza was simple but every ingredient was fresh and I can’t stop thinking about it! The kebabs were good too and served over rice with charred veggies and bread. I could easily eat here every week and never get sick of the food! Highly recommended!"
"Clay and fire offers a perfect Near East restaurant experience! The ambience is truly refreshing, immersing you in the Near East atmosphere. The menu is excellent, offering a delightful array of dishes, and the freshness of the food is remarkable. The bread and pizza were unbelievably fresh a d remarkably better than the processed stuff I one is so used to. The Halal meat options were both delicious and supple. I was pleased to find Greek beer on the menu, adding to the authenticity. Although reservations may require planning ahead due to limited space, the wait is well worth it. Additionally, the convenience of free street parking adds to the overall positive dining experience. Undoubtedly the best Near East culinary experience in the KC area."
"I have been wanting to try this place out for a couple years. Just kept putting it off. We went and celebrated a couple of birthdays. The chef did not disappoint. The food was great. Everyone liked all of the dishes. I would say the one thing that I didn’t care for was the beef kabob. Only because it was tough. I would say someone over cooked it a little. This will sound weird. But even being over cooked it had nice flavors. I recommend the grilled olives and chipotle hummus. Never would have thought I would have liked grilled olives. I’ve had all kinds of flavors of hummus except chipotle. It was the best! Their vodka cocktail was tasty. I would go back just for that! Service was friendly but very very slow. Not sure if that is typical or this particular day. Had to wait a long time for them to take the order, deliver the food, check up on us, get water, pay the bill. They were working but needed another server. Thats one of my biggest pet peeves when nice or sit down restaurants don’t staff correctly. Hopefully just a one off. Definitely go!! It’s worth the effort even if it’s slow. Just plan on dinner taking longer. The best part the prices are very responsible."
"One of the best place to eat traditional Turkish dishes. We tried hummus, grandma’s pizza and kabab platter and everything was super delicious. They make everything from scratch and on a clay oven so it takes a little longer but its worth the wait. The staff is very friendly and ambience is too homely."
