Char Bar - Parkville 15348 Old Town Drive, Parkville, MO 64152

"I was blown away by this place. Didn't really know what to expect. But once the cheesy "hush puppies" landed on the table, I knew we were in for something great. This is the new Parkville location - part of the locally-owned Culinary Virtue Collective (Char Bar, Beer Kitchen and Meat Mitch). We showed up today because of an ad they're running that features one of the most amazing sandwiches I've had in some time: pastrami burnt ends, house-made kraut, fontina cheese & 1K Island dressing on a special Farm To Market Bread Co rye bun. As ridiculously good as that was, I actually preferred the Triple Crown (pulled pork, smoked ham, smoked bacon, fontina cheese, caramelized onions, pickles, dukes Mayo on toasted sourdough). Sides? You bet. Great onion rings, baked beans, and creamy slaw. The fries were having a bad day. I didn't even look at the desserts but was told that the peach bread pudding would be worth coming back for on its own. It feels relaxed and comfortable but that's because they do so many things so well. And there's whimsy wherever you look. They are smart funny. Service is top notch. Some of the best wait staff I've encountered in some time. Jack, the manager who started up the restaurant, was happy to chat for awhile as I waited for the to go order my wife requested after I called and told her how good it was. He's proud of his restaurant and he has every reason to be."

"Great food, service and atmosphere. Seated right away, though they appeared to be packed. The waitress seemed new because my order was messed up as well as others around me, but the food made up for it! Good portions for the price. My only rant, they were out of corn bread... of all things."

"The Char Bar BBQ satisfied my BBQ craving and hunger. The BBQ is a smoky and juicy delicacy. The BBQ sauce is just perfect, as well as the hot sauce. The hot sauce wasn't spicy to me, but it was tasty. It was delicious when I mixed the hot sauce and BBQ sauce. They have a variety of alcoholic drinks to choose from and aren't stingy with the alcohol portion. The services were excellent, fast, and efficient."

"Hoped in for a quick bite after yoga. The smell from outside was heavenly. Staff was very friendly. Large selection of bourbon and beer. Hot meat sandwich was fantastic and the potato salad was some of the best I’ve had lately. Place is pretty new, open about a month. Had. A nice little chat with the GM and the bartender while I waited. I’d certainly visit again."

"Highly recommend the Hushpuppies. I don’t know if it’s just grits or with cheese but wow they’re phenomenal and unlike what you think they might be. The Burnt Heaven is a hearty sandwich and great flavors. They pack a lot in there. The 2 meats platter with burnt ends and pulled pork Is also very hearty. The No Label House Brew is a nice coffee stout. Great place and atmosphere. Our waitress Paige was efficient and had a super personality. Plenty of parking."
