"On my 3rd pregnancy using Dr. Mitchell, he's great! Always super kind and respectful, would recommend to anyone needing an obgyn!"
"I love Dr. Mitchell. He is the first Gynecological Practitioner that I felt has truly listened and does whatever he can to figure out my complicated female health issues, with my PCOS and endometriosis, and he offers me treatment to help and make me more comfortable."
"It's a business for him and pregnant women don't know anything about being pregnant. I asked for the birth defects test (standardly done early w/o patient having to ask) and when the nurse came in to do it she said, "Well, it's not like you can do anything about it in this state anyway. Every life is precious." I'm pro-choice all the way and hadn't considered that had there been an issue. I had a disabled child at home and would rather be prepared instead of surprised at the last minute or later on when it showed up. I wanted to get a tubal ligation since this was my 3rd child. Dr Mitchell a greed to it on the caveat that I had my husband sign a waiver giving his (my husband's) permission for ME to have MY fallopian tubes shut off so I couldn't get pregnant anymore. There is no law for this (it is, in fact, illegal). I had to go around with his staff about it for a couple of months. The procedure had to be approved within so long before it was going to be done, and I didn't have time to find another doctor when I was hit with this (my previous doctor and I had discussed this, but I went with an IUD. I would NOT have been required to have anyone's permission to do anything to any part of my body). I finally had to tell his staff I would contact the ACLU if they persisted in pursuing another person's permission for a medical procedure on my body (of course my husband and I had talked about it and agreed to it, but I'm an adult, not his property or ward). Magically, my signature alone was good enough for permission for the medical procedure, just like every other time I've signed a medical form for consent. I kept saying something was wrong (I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 2 months after the baby was born). He kept blowing off my concerns, never got records from nor consulted my previous obgyn (who would have told him to find out what's wrong bc I don't complain). My mucous plug fell out at 6 months. I called his office and they blew me off ("it was just discharge"...there's a big difference between the 2). A little over a week later I went into labor (I called his office and they blew me off again). I went to the hospital and, what do you know, I was having contractions and dilated 1cm. I was observed for a while and then sent home. A week later, it happened again, and I was in active labor (again, the office said to not worry, but I called on my way to the hospital). I was in labor, contractions 3 mins apart, and had dilated to 3cm. I was put in a room and given medicine. Dr. Mitchell had said for me to stay at the New Albany hospital ("best NICU" he says) over the weekend. The other doctor noticed I had dilated more (3cm and still having contractions). He transferred me to Tupelo where they have facilities for a distressed pregnancy and post-natal mother as well as a proper NICU since the baby would have been very early. Fortunately, the labor did stop. 2 weeks later, I dilated to 4cm (during a check up). Dr Mitchell decided it was baby time. I wanted to go to Tupelo with their NICU. Dr Mitchell was still mad about the other doctor sending me there. I had the baby at New Albany. They didn't have the staff or equipment a NICU should. One of the nurses stole my pain meds ("I'll go get it" and 30mins later find out she's gone to lunch, the log said she gave it to me, so I got to feel like I was cut in half) after I had a tubal ligation and c-section. The administration changed my last name on LITERALLY EVERY PEICE OF PAPERWORK I had, including my insurance, all of my personal medical info, and MY NAME ON MY CHILD'S BIRTH CERTIFICATE because "When you get married, your name automatically." NO it doesn't. She yelled at me about how she couldn't change anything and how long it would take her if I made her (yet she already had) the day after I had a c-section and a tubal, could barely sit up, hadn't been able to touch my baby yet, and was already stressed out. My husband was angry as well (there was a personal reason I kept my name). There's so much more but not enough space!"
"Great staff! Loved the whole experience. Choosing to see doctors outside of NMMC this time because I’ve never been happy with their services. Someone had recommended Dr. Mitchell’s office so I decided to give him a try and I am so happy with my decision."
"Dr. Mitchell and his staff are the best. They are always kind, smiling, and caring. I have used his clinic for 19 years. He has always taken great care of me. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to be heard and taken well care of! Best gynecologist!!"
