"I first called and asked if they accepted Cigna Healthspring insurance and was told yes so I scheduled an appointment. When I arrived I was told that my insurance did not pay for the contact lens fitting expense. This was the week before Christmas, money was very tight, but I was wearing my last pair of contacts and wearing them too long already so we made arrangements for me to pay that fee within 60 days. After the initial exam I was told there is a fee for the diabetic exam that I wasn’t told before the exam. After leaving upset about that I was thinking back and didn’t think I had to pay for my last exam last year or diabetic exam so I called insurance. They said I was correct so I asked them to call and work this out. They did and called me back saying the way they bill will not be covered and that they would not change codes so that it would be. If I had been told when I called and asked if they accepted it I was told yes, but the way we bill will not benefit you at all, we could have avoided this nightmare! Shouldn’t they have already worked that out with the insurance when they agreed to offer it so as to benefit the patient as best possible? Food bank, here I come! I have since received a resolution to the complaint I filed against this service stating that they will refile the insurance in a manner to benefit the patient and that I am to receive a credit amount for the $60. As of yet 2/6 the insurance has not been refiled in such a manner to live up to the agreement of the resolution. Because the diabetic exam was made (that I was totally unaware was being made) the same day as the eye exam I am just out the $40 charge ( that I was totally unaware I was being charged) although according to the reply to my initial review I wasn’t charged for the exam only the fitting so I’m going after that charge next. It appears as though even after discovering the errors in filing insurance for the benefit of the patient that they allegedly accept, they are still reluctant to help the patient to benefit. Negative reviews are actually good for business if handled correctly which as of yet is not the case here."
