"Shame on those responsible, I am sure you felt the repercussions. If that mother wouldn't have walked in, you could've changed that boy's view on school. That is supposed to be a place where you learn basic things. And I was hoping that your staff would have the common sense given to every normal being. To never punish a child as you did. This school and school district is an ABOMINATION. Feel your shame and guilt."
"This school is an embarrassment to academic institutions nationwide, and all attempts to prevent bullying and promote inclusivity among students. Administration should be completely overhauled “to set the example” as was done to that poor child. Practice what you preach Shame on you all."
"I'm appalled to read the way "punishment" is given to a child, whom has no control over the time his mother drops him off at school. You should have your license revoked, Principal Fitzsimmons! Working in education, one should be there to support and help grown a child, not belittle and shame them!"
""going forward a separate, supervised classroom has been designated for necessary catch-up work. The District and Lincoln Elementary will continue to work with families on an individual basis to encourage and promote student attendance." The Grants Pass district stated that the policy in question "was never intended to isolate or stigmatize students." If it was never intended to isolate or stigmatize students, why was a student being forced to be in isolation? Now the plan moving forward is to put students in a separate room?! It is the SAME isolation tactics...instead of a separate table, students will be forced to stay in a separate room to "catch up" on work?! Students catch up best in their classroom. This is a punishing, isolation tactic still put upon young children who have no control over their tardiness. This school has NOT changed, and parents should not stop fighting to hold the school responsible for their deplorable policies that victimize those who are not at fault."
"Having worked in the public school system I can't believe what I just read. Where do you get off punishing a child for something he has no control over. If there was a problem with his attendance you should have contacted the parent. So now, by your actions, you have told this child that one of the adults in his life that he should be able to trust is cruel and unfair. You seriously need to step down, because you have no business dealing with children."
