The Hawthorne

"We were looking for a good clean building, not too big, in a very walkable area for our oldest. A good responsive team running the building would be a major plus. After looking at several places in SE/NE neighborhoods, we chose The Hawthorne last month. Violot and Scott were very accomodating during the entire process and very quick to respond to our needs (thanks for letting us use your dolly!). Seems like it's a new team running the place and I have to say they have been on the ball so far!"

"Needed a good apartment, quick, fast and in a hurry... Scott and Violet were so responsive and got me into my sweet pad. Thanks guys! Anyhoo, this is a great location and SE Portland has always been a place to call home. Plenty of culture and nature! All the best! :D"

"The building is rather nice and has a good vibe to it. I have spent a lot of time walking around the Hawthorne area and enjoy the neighborhood. The management though is probably the most inept I have ever encountered. I moved in without a mail key and had to pay out of pocket to have a locksmith install a new mail key a month+ into my tenancy. Still have yet to be communicated by property management about being reimbursed. I have ongoing maintenance issues that have not been handled for two plus months... As well as the lack of proper accounting where my parking was double charged and not promptly taken out. I would stay away from any properties that are associated with Wonder Dog Management. As they do not care about doing their jobs nor the right thing out of principle."

"Update: We have had our car broken into 3 times in the last 6 months. We can clearly see where they break into the garage, but nothing has been done by the property to increase security or mitigate break-ins, and no footage from the “cameras” has been sent to PPD. We have lived in the Hawthorne Apartments for a few months and we initially liked the space and location. However, we have had several burglaries and vandalism events since being here and management has been unhelpful at best. After weeks of spotty contact their final solution for me was to offer to take away my parking so I could afford to replace my stolen items. Cameras in building do not capture incidents and the on-site Security phone number does not work."

"My partner, cat and I moved into The Hawthorne PDX about a month ago. Within a day or so of applying, we heard back! The application process was swift and easy - Kylie was incredibly helpful and responsive to all questions we had before moving in. There was a 6 week special that was offered for signing a lease (as well as a $99 security deposit) and all credits have been applied to our rent so far! The unit is incredibly nice -- this is our first time having in unit washer/dryer and a dishwasher (which we're very happy about)! For being a one bedroom (alcove), the unit is quite spacious. The location is great and we're within walking distance to many of our favorite restaurants! Considering the street this complex is on, it's surprisingly quiet at night! We feel very fortunate to have found a place during these times and we're very happy living here so far!"
