"My major ongoing complaint about living there was the dirty windows, which they refused to clean (photo attached from 2020– the *inside* of the window was clean in this photo, and they never cleaned the outside by the time I moved out in 2023!). This is a low-rise building in an urban setting, and the windows swing open only partially, so it isn’t really possible to access the exterior side of the windows to clean them yourself. The whole four years I lived there, they looked terrible; a dusty film was especially visible in direct sunlight, and negatively affected visibility through the windows. I repeatedly requested that the windows be cleaned. The first time (phone call), I was told they would look into it. The second time (email), I was ignored. The third time (phone call), I was told that they couldn’t figure out how to safely clean my second-floor apartment’s windows because there were “power lines” directly next to them outside (on First Street). Actually, those are cable and phone lines, which are low voltage and have no risk of electric shock! The actual power lines are across the street. That was a foolish conclusion by a unworldly person, which tells me that they weren’t serious about cleaning the windows. Otherwise, they would have hired professionals to figure out how to get it done. A few other complaints, but mostly, it was a fine place to live, but would have been a really good place to live if they had just cleaned the windows (and a great place to live if the units had air conditioning, by the way)."
"Apart from the standard modern smoking ban, it would be a five-star place to call home."
"Just moved in a month ago and love the apartment! High ceilings, lots of natural light, nice amenities and great walkability makes for a great apartment. I so appreciate the tons of closet space! The convenience of the in unit washer and dryer makes things much easier. Even the hallways feel spacious! The staff are wonderful and very responsive to any questions."
"Before I signed my lease here I was feeling insecure because of some of the reviews on here. However, after living here for a little, I am really happy with everything. The building is clean and quiet. Our unit, which is unit B, feels so much bigger in real life than I expected from the floor plan layout. We are able to fit so much in here, so I can imagine it must be amazing if you’re looking for an even bigger unit. The location is pretty good. We have not been outside too much because of the virus, but pretty much anything you need is around here. The Max is pretty close as well, which is nice for getting into Portland. The only thing tl be aware of is that there are trains passing by every now and then, and they can be loud. But, for being in the center of Beaverton, this is not really anything to complain about as it should be expected to have some traffic. I saw some reviews saying it can be hard go recieve packages here. I believe the reason they said this is because there is a call box to enter for some of the carriers. However, I’ve already ordered many packages to come here and it’s worked out fine every single time! For parking, there is street parking, but it gets packed at night, so my boyfriend and I decided to get an assigned space for $65 a month. I am very happy with La Scala so far. The staff has been very helpful and professional. We had some issues with our keycards to enter, our unit and it got fixed that same day! So far I don’t really have anything negative to say, and I honestly think this building deserve some better reviews on here, which is why I took my time to write a longer review; something I never really do!"
"After a few disastrous weeks trying to find a decently priced place in downtown Portland where I work, I finally found la scala! The reviews online are not great, but I honestly was just in a hurry to find a place so took a look anyway. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the building is quiet, well maintained, and apartment itself is clean and modern with brand new appliances. Their staff is knowledgeable and really easy to work with. I love the location as well. It is near the max line which I can take just 20 minutes into work, and the neighborhood is really cute with all kinds of unique shops and places to eat. This way I can live in the city without paying 1400 for a 1 bedroom! The only con about this place is that the reserved parking has a waitlist right now so I’ll have to deal with street parking for a while. Either way, that kind of thing comes with living downtown so I don’t think it will be an issue for me."
