"WH Properties did not give our security deposit back despite the house being undamaged. They wrote our deposits off as "cleaning fees" which totaled to 3000 dollars. Management is very unhelpful and corrupt. Do not rent from here, find other options."
"We signed our lease for the first of September on August 18th, 2022. We informed Welcome Home Properties that we would be arriving and moving in on the 26th of September. When we arrived, they were completely renovating the apartment we signed a lease for. We were never given a notice of this happening and also did not receive a 24 hour or a 48 hour entry notice for ANY time people were coming in and out for the renovation. They had 26 days to contact us. They had to give us another apartment to stay in that same day, the apartment was not clean and we had to pay to have it deep cleaned. We stayed at the different apartment for the rest of September and all of October. Throughout the process, Welcome Home Properties gave us conflicting updates and their maintenance guy was also giving us different information. We tried to talk to them about compensation since we were not in the apartment that we paid and signed for, and they kept telling us that we would receive some type of compensation and that they would reach out to us. They never did, and their excuse when we talked to them 3 more times, was that their boss was out of town and they would let us know when he got back. We also never received that call. We unfortunately gave up, since we were first time renters and didn’t know what else we could do. We got two voicemails confirming that the apartment would be ready by October 30th, and said we would get keys to the place by noon that Sunday when the cleaners would finish cleaning up. We went to the apartment on October 30th and talked to the maintenance guy and he said that he was not done renovating and the cleaners would not be in until late Monday and the apartment would not be done till Tuesday the 1st. That is exactly two months since starting the lease. When we were given the okay to move in to our actual apartment in November, the maintenance guy was still painting and told us that Welcome Home Properties did not tell him we were moving in that day. Once we checked the apartment, there was adhesive goo on the floors, doors, and even fridge. There was debris and dust on the hardwood floors, new carpet, and windowsills. We took pictures and sent it to Welcome Home Properties, they called and let us know they would send the maintenance guy back to clean up, unfortunately, the maintenance guy’s nephew was the one who came over and tried to help us clean. It was late at night so we let him go back home and we finished cleaning up. Not long after moving in to our actual apartment, I heard our front door lock being messed with. When I opened the door, it was an inspector. Again, we did not receive 48 hour notice of an inspector coming. When we called Welcome Home Properties, all they did was acknowledge that they did not give us a 2 day notice or that we gave verbal permission. We also found out that day that the maintenance guy changed the original lock of our doors, so we had to be given a new set of keys. After we moved in, the garage had a new door and it was not installed so we had to call multiple times to get that done as well so we wouldn’t have a big, brand new door in our garage. We also asked multiple times for a remote for the garage, they said they would give us the remote, and we never received it. We graciously took all the curveballs. We were very nice when we would ask to get more information or to ask for the garage remote, door installed, inspection mishaps, etc. we paid our rent on time and hopefully we weren’t bad tenants. They violated things in the contract by the some of the things listed above. Things happen, although if the roles were reversed, they might’ve not been so forgiving towards us. This may be a unique experience with them, but there is no excuse for miscommunication. After 18.8k a year, paying a double deposit (we paid ~4k the first month), and $200+ for the carpet, effective communication is a bare minimum. We received no compensation or a call for anything that happened. On a positive note, I would give 5 starts to one of their employees, Andres."
"Look, everyone would love to not have to have a landlord, but for many of us it’s a reality—so why not go with one that is excellent, professional, transparent and responsive? I’ve rented at two different properties with WHO over the last three years and they’ve never disappointed me with their timely response to any needed repair or issue. Well-maintained properties and a fantastic repair man on staff = stress-free living in wonderful apartments. Thank you!"
"The staff at welcome home properties were very nice and helpful. And the unit was in great condition. They have you do a walk through and take pictures of everything in all of the rooms to make sure that everything is working and that you are satisfied with the entire unit before you get the keys. I found this very professional and helpful. The girl that unlocked the unit and had me sign paperwork was very sweet and nice. Had a non-stressful and pleasant experience with it all. Glad the unit was in top shape too! Excited to work with welcome home properties from now on."
"My husband and I have rented from Welcome Home for the last 3 years. We moved in newly married and were excited about the new apartment. We are happy to be gone. We've never been late for rent, keep the unit in excellent condition, and are quiet neighbors. However this management has the audacity to charge for walk throughs in your unit. A nonrefundable carpet cleaning fee to move in, as well as to professionally clean the unit in order to leave. I do not know one person in town who has had a positive experience with this management. To top that off a couple months ago we were accused of smoking on the premises and threatened fines. We have never smoked. We were told staff members saw us smoking. Of course we never received an apology. I encourage everyone to avoid all units managed by this company. Completely unprofessional and undeserving of our community support. They should be ashamed of themselves."
