"This review of New Athlete is long overdue. My son Isaac trained regularly with Tyler Doran at New Athlete from 2017 through early 2020. In addition to strength and conditioning, Isaac learned about dedication, discipline, and perseverance. We didn't know it at the time, but all of Isaac's baseball training ultimately prepared him for the United States Air Force. Academy. #usafa2024 Tyler was there for Isaac each step of the way and New Athlete is simply the best athletic training facility in Clark County."
"I am a “weekend warrior” and have had both of children training at New Athlete for a couple years. I am a firm believer in their approach to personalizing a strength and conditioning program geared towards utilizing biomechanics, flexibility and agility to build a better athlete. One afternoon I dropped by kids off for their training session and Ryan noticed I was wearing a knee brace. He curiously proceeded to inquire about my injury. I shared with him that I tore my ACL, LCL and meniscus. He looked at my knee and proceeded to share with me their philosophy on physical therapy and how they are only facility in the PNW using an ARPwaves machine, which is a cutting-edge technology designed to optimize the healing process. Ryan confirmed my doctor would tell me to expect at least six months to recovery, and as if he was giving himself a personal challenge, he told me if I did my physical therapy with New Athlete they could save between 2-6 weeks of recovery time. At this point Ryan introduced me to Dr. Steve Cabrales. In our first session I gained significant respect and trust with Steve’s approach to physical therapy. He is extremely knowledgeable in this field and can clearly see the passion he brings to his craft. Steve and I quickly developed a great report and he has a way of tactfully pushing you with every movement and exercise. His focus and attention to form, technique, flexibility, agility and strength is unlike anything I experienced rehabbing with other professionally for previous injuries, which included complete ruptures of my Achilles and Rotator Cuff. Through observation, Steve pointed out I hadn’t fully recovered from a 6 year old Achilles surgery and made that it a focal point to ensure proper alignment and strength on both legs. Simply stated, throughout my recover, the results have spoken for themselves, my surgeon, family and friends have been dumbfounded by the progress they observed week in and week out. None of them could believe I was progressing as fast as I was. I completely credit Steve’s meticulous attention to detail for guiding me on my recovery. He safely got me back to controlled running at least a month ahead of my initial expectations. It is no surprise elite athletes and professional athletes travel to New Athlete. Ryan, Steve and the entire New Athlete crew are skilled and knowledgeable professionals. You are not just another client or patient, you are a person. They help you along your journey both athletically but most importantly they are there for you mentally as well. They are tuned into your mannerisms and expressions. They treat the whole you by doing what is best for your specific needs. -Rory S."
"In October of 2017, and his junior year of varsity high school football, our son experienced his 1st dislocated shoulder. After our visit to the ER, where they reduced it back into place, he came home to recover. At that point, we knew he was out for the remainder of the season so we began to contemplate scheduling shoulder surgery. In January 2018, we visited with the orthopedic surgeons to review his shoulder injury and talk about his MRI results…and again the possibility of surgery. The surgeons proceeded to tell us that once a shoulder dislocates, the likelihood of it happening again is probable. 50% without the surgery, 10% with the surgery. In the end, we thought what are the chances it will come out again? So we elected to risk it and not do the surgery. Fast forward to June 2018 , our son was in a Varsity football scrimmage and his shoulder came out again. Off to the ER we went to have it reduced. I began to rethink our surgery decision and ended up making another appt with the same orthopedic surgeon for the following week. At that visit, as he was examining his shoulder, the surgeon thought it would be a good idea to check his range of motion and mobility in the shoulder. Asking our son “Does this hurt? Does this hurt?” and our son stating “Yes”, he proceeded to torque his shoulder out of location. As my son was lying face down with the surgeon unsuccessfully trying to get it back in, I decided to ask my series of questions that I had regarding surgery. The biggest one, “What is the recovery time after the surgery?” The surgeon replied, “At least six months.” It was at that moment my son and I realized that if we did the surgery, playing his senior year of Varsity football was NOT going to happen. There was no way the surgeon would clear him in time for the season in Sept. We both felt beyond defeated and emotionally drained with what we were just told. We talked about our options again and realistically surgery seemed to really be the answer but I heard of another option that I really wanted to explore. An option that, in the end, could possibly enable my son to play his final senior year of Varsity football. We went to visit Ryan Paul at New Athlete. I have to admit I was a little worried as to whether or not this would even work as my son had some severe shoulder deficiencies but once I understood the composition of the body and how it all ties together it all began to make sense and I had the utmost trust in Ryan. For over 3 months, Ryan and his team worked with my son 5 days a week during the summer and then after school slowly regaining the strength and potential in my sons shoulder. We also coupled the workouts with ARP Wave Neurological Therapy (Accelerated Recovery Performance) 3x a week. As a result, Ryan and his team were able to recuperate solid strength, stability and flexibility in our son’s shoulder thus dodging surgery!! My son played the ENTIRE football season – offense and defense – without incidence and had maximum mobility and performance within his shoulder. The coaches, his teammates, family and friends have commented that this was our son’s best season he’s ever played. There really aren’t enough words to show our extreme gratitude towards Ryan and his team for their knowledge, expertise and “beyond successful” results with our son and his strength and mobility training. If you are being told that your injuries will only heal and recover if you get surgery, STOP and go see Ryan and his team at New Athlete! I highly recommend that you go and see Ryan at New Athlete to maximize your athletic movements!!!"
"Ryan and Tyler are first class trainers who are very well versed on helping athletes become the best version of themselves. They keep a watchful eye on form and are dedicated to functional fitness growth. I highly recommend New Athlete to anyone looking to improve their athletic performance."
"The best training in town. I lost 15lbs in 6 weeks eating healthy training 3x per week. Finished a spartan race, hiked dog mountain in 2 hours round trip. I'm in great shape and I've only trained for 12 weeks. Stop in and check it out."
