"There are some very good people working there that I think mean well. However, our child’s experience was horrible. She started during the Covid pandemic, and at first we were sure that the staff shortages and constantly having her stay home because there wasn’t enough staff was due to the pandemic. But after the crisis passed, we then found out that they were too short staffed to keep the Ashland center opened. They moved all the children to Grants Pass and told us they were hiring more staff, and that there wouldn’t be these kinds of closures. They kept our child on a short day they said it was for the child’s benefit, but what we realized was that they never did get fully staffed. Their behavioral program lacks. They didn’t have enough clinical staff to give the kids the kind of counseling and support that they needed Behavior modification pretty much equals them, avoiding doing anything that would Trigger The child. Of course the child’s behaviors decrease when they get there way all the time. Then when you reach the end of the time limit that they think is appropriate, they give you the quick rush out to regular school environment where the child is ill equipped, a setup to fail. Overall, this program has all the signs of a business that dose taking adequate care of their employees. So many folks left and all the staff seemed burned out. Over worked and underpaid for doing a very hard and important job. The staff that worked, the hardest are on the lowest paid. If there was any other option in this area, we would’ve taken it, but there wasn’t sadly special day schools for children with emotional and behavioral challenges are few and far between. If you must place, your child be ready to be extremely proactive make sure that you’re fully involved and keep an eye on everything."
